You gotta love the range amongst the love interests of Jane Austen books. Mr. Darcy is just constantly going "i dont want to talk to her, she's so cool, she is right i need to change đđ", and Mr. Knightley is right here going "you spoiled little brat i want you carnally"
Man, we have got to stop treating art like it has an expiration date. That show stopped airing? Doesnât mean it canât haunt your every waking thought. Everybodyâs into this album, but you donât have the energy for new music right now? Itâll be waiting for you when youâre ready. That movieâs fifty years old and indie as shit? Incredible, you have the chance to share it with folks who might never otherwise feel that particular punch of delight. Books donât go bad. Shows inspire fandoms decades after theyâve wrapped up. Weâre still looking at cave paintings and statue work from ancient times and letting the joy of creation bring tears to our eyes. Thatâs the point of art. Itâs as close to immortality as we ever get. Why try to give that magic a shelf life?
One thing i really love about spy x family is this pattern where they do the emotional thing thats true to themselves instead of the rational objective thing that would be good for the mission, and in the long run that turns out to be the best move.
Take the school interview. Getting furious on Anyaâs behalf when the asshole makes her cry and storming out was objectively a pretty bad move for the mission. Operation strix could have ended right there. But at the same time, showing their decency and care for their daughter won over henderson and things worked out. Plus, because they acted like a real family in that moment, it puts them beyond suspicion. Imagine if someone later tried to convince henderson that loid was a spy, and they only enrolled anya to infiltrate the school. Heâd laugh in their face! Heâd say let me tell you a story about how they nearly didnât get in because they loved their daughter so much, theres no way that family are spies.
Another great example is Anyaâs relationship with Damian. Punching him in the face on day one⌠not a great move for operation âget close to Damian and use that friendship to get info on his dadâ But in the long run, this again puts Anya above suspicion. If someone later tried to tell Damian that his friend Anya just got close to him to spy on him, heâd think it ridiculous. Heâd say of course thats not the case, we hated each other when we first met, if she wanted to spy on me sheâd have tried to suck up to me like everyone else.
Despite being a story all about deception, the way the narrative consistently rewards the Forgers for acting like a real family and being true to themselves gives it this really sweet wholesome core. It emphasizes that this is a story about the fake family becoming real and all of them becoming their best selves in the process.Â
What about the other months tho? Pretty sure I was listening to music then too

it really is insane how waking up early will grant you access to some of the most beautiful sights and sensations in the world that will make you want to live forever, but only if you overcome the gauntlet of a thousand razors that is getting out of bed early. truly one of life's little saw traps.
I can watch no longer in silence. I must complain about you by such means as are within my reach. Youâve ripped out my soul. I am half agony, half hopeless. Tell me not that this is it, that such precious Jane Austen adaptations are gone forever.Â
I offer you my screenwriting advice with a heart even more desperate than when you almost broke it with the release of the Persuasion trailer one month ago.
Dare not say that this movie is accurate, that this Anne is a stronger protagonist than her book counterpart. I have loved none but her. Pretentious I may have been, annoying and demanding I have been, but always with the filmâs best interests at heart.Â
The book alone has brought me to you. For it alone I sat and watched. Have you not realized this? Can you fail to have understood my wishes? I would not have waited even ten minutes after turning off the TV to write this, could I have mastered my own feelings, as I think you must have guessed mine.Â
I can hardly type. I am in every instant recalling something which makes me want to punch a wall. You rewrote Anne as a snarky girlboss, but I can appreciate the nuance of her book counterpart when it would be lost on the Netflix execs. Too horrible, too disgusting adaptation! You do us insult, indeed. You do believe that there is not a single brain cell in your audience. Believe mine to have shriveled up and died while watching this movie, most painfully, in the brain of
-Everyone Watching
I must go, and cleanse my remaining sanity with the 1995 adaptation; but I shall return hither, to laugh at this adaptation with my friends, as soon as I can stomach it. But another sentence of clunky narration, another infuriating wink from this horrible version of Anne to the camera, will be enough to make me cancel my Netflix subscription forever.

Diego thinking Lila is cheating when she was just with Five was so funny until it wasn't.
to all the people going "taylor swift is just a singer, how is she supposed to end the genocide in palestine?" you're right, she cannot. but, she can influence the right people to do something. she posts one link telling people to register to vote and over 35,000 people registered. ticketmaster fucks over her fans during presale for her tour and it ends up being a subject of discussion in the us house senate. when people created ai fakes of her, the white house tweeted about it. last night, in about 10 minutes over 400,000 people liked her tweet announcing her new album. think about how many people she could reach if she tweeted about a ceasefire, specifically the "right" people ie the people with power. think about how much money she could raise if she posted a donation link on IG. she's already a republican talking point, she could leverage the fact that politicians constantly have her name in their mouth and call for a ceasefire. she has reach, she has a voice, she has influence, she has an audience, and she is not using it.
