Journal Prompts For Shadow Work #2

Journal Prompts for Shadow Work #2

Here are some more journal prompts to help you get started on your Shadow Work Journey!

These were the next set of journaling prompts I personally used and these are the ones that also made me think about how I was raised, the people I used to surround myself by, and how much I have grown till now.

The first part is rejection, followed by embarrassment, I’m sure everyone has been rejected or embarrassed in some way or another in their life. This could come from our parents, guardians, siblings, cousins, neighbors, and even friends or strangers. This prompt isn’t asking you to write all of your rejections, however if you feel drawn to it to work through, then go for it!

Forgiveness is something I struggle with personally. The feelings of, I could have done this better, or I should of said this instead, or missing out on an opportunity, etc, is a familiar feeling. I started to forgive myself for whatever memory that came up during this time, it’s not an over night thing either. I am still learning on forgiving myself for past mistakes still!

These prompts made me realize something too, I have been focusing on everything else BUT myself. I had to sit down and think for quite a while to answer some of these and to reconnect to who I once was and what was holding me back, now I can move forward with my healing to work through the issues that have presented themselves to me.

Don’t feel bad about crying or getting angry during this process, trauma comes up while working through it, remembering to breathe, taking your time and to reach out to your support system will help.

I hope this prompt brings you much clarity in your journey.

*Reminder to use caution and to seek professional help if needed. I’m not a licensed therapist. However my inbox is open for support.

🔮 Witchy Habits to Make 2021 a Magical Year 🔮

image

3 Daily Habits

🧘 Meditate and stretch every day, when you wake up or before going to bed, to recenter yourself and look inwards.

📖 Keep a journal, grimoire or book of shadows and write as often as possible, to remember your thoughts and log your progress.

✨ Find something to be grateful for every day, whether it’s a big event or simply watching a bird landing on a tree outside of your window.

3 Weekly Habits

🃏 Make a past/present/future Tarot spread on Sundays to reflect on the week that has passed, your current feelings and the week ahead.

🌲 Spend time around nature or observing the sky, at least once a week, to stay connected to the Earth and the Moon.

🍞 Practice Kitchen Magic by making at least one special meal per week, where you pour positive energies and magical intentions. I try to learn a completely new recipe once a week to keep it fun and interesting.

3 Monthly Habits

📝 Make a list of your goals on the first of each month, and keep it close to your desk to stay on track every day.

🌙 Follow the moon phases to connect to the Moon’s magic and power. Work hard, start projects and be productive when the Moon is waxing ; rest, recover and reflect when the Moon is waning.

📚 Learn something new about witchcraft, spirituality, or a completely different topic that interests you. Staying curious, even when life gets busy and complicated, is what makes it worth living.

3 Yearly Habits

🧹 Fully cleanse your home after each witches sabbats to get a fresh start and throw out old energies.

🕯️ Switch up and clean your altar at the end of each season, to keep it alive and filled with magical power. Decorate according to the coming season and sabbat.

🌱 Adapt your behavior to the rhythm of nature: spring and summer are high-energy, starting big projects and spending time outside, while fall and winter are about rest, reflection and spending time indoors.

🌳Willow Tree

The willow tree is associated to the moon and it is connected to the element of water. Its qualities are femininity, love, healing, protection, and divination.🌜

image

✨ Willow bark is useful to alleviate pain and lower fevers.

✨A decoction of the leaves or bark, simmered lightly, is used to treat dandruff.

✨The white willow is most commonly used as an herbal remedy. The Purple Willow has the same general properties as the White Willow and is even more effective in lowering fevers. The Sallow or Goat Willow eases indigestion, whooping cough and catarrh, and is used as an antiseptic to disinfect bandages.

✨ In the Lakota tradition, tobacco and willow are smoked together in the sacred pipe because it was thought that the willow’s energy helped the tobacco ascend to the heavens.

✨Willow is generally found near sources of water or in swampy areas. Ancient burial mounds in the British Isles that are near water were often lined with willows. Maybe to help keep them from being damaged by moisture. Funerary flints were cut in a willow leaf shape.

✨Willow leaves are used in herbal mixtures designed to attract love, and its wood is used to make wands for moon magic.

✨Willow is often used by dowsers to locate underground water, earth energies, and buried objects,

✨Willow wood carried or placed in the home guards against evil.

✨A willow tree growing near a home will provide protection.

✨Willow leaves, bark, and wood add energy to healing magic.

✨Willow bark and Sandalwood mixed and burned together during the waning moon may conjure spirits.

✨Carrying a piece of willow wood helps to overcome the fear of death.

✨If you wish to manifest something in your life, tie a knot on a willow branch as you visualize your intention. When you receive what you asked for, untie the knot and use it again.

*Before consuming any part of a Willow Tree, do some research first! Make sure the tree/leaves have not been treated with pesticides, etc. Before taking anything make sure to tell the tree what you are about to do and why. Also, give something in return as thanks (coins, tobacco, pour a drink, crystal chips, etc.) *

Cottage Witch Tips

For those among us who, like myself, value the simple little things we can do to keep our homes and hearths happy, healthy, and still magical! I hope you all find some use out of these little bits I’ve picked up along the way.

• Make a spray of salt, water, vinegar, and herbs you associate with protection (I use pepper, lemon, and rosemary- though I do recommend a variation of Thieves oil, if you’re interested in also cutting down on germs and such) to use when cleaning to add a magical boost to protecting your home.

• Through many of us don’t have the traditional old school hearth setup, I like to light a candle to symbolize the hearth fire burning in my home. I use this ritual to honor my gods and their presence in my home. This also helps me feel connected to the hearth fires of old and to all those who came before me, allowing me to be here.

• Timing your chores with moon cycles can be an effective way to get witchy and remember to actually do certain chores, which we all forget from time to time (no? Just me? Alright then.)

• Enchanting your throws, blankets, and miscellaneous comfy things to be loving, comforting, and reassuring for those who need it is always a nice touch.

• Making a charm for a healthy, happy, and protected home! I made a little witch ball out of a plastic Christmas ornament and some items that matched my intent and it’s been good.

• Don’t underestimate the magical nature of mundane chores. Sweeping? I like to visualize that I’m sweeping out all of the gross energy and vibes along with the grime. Vacuuming? Same deal. Airing out the house? Inviting in clear and flowing energy. As long as you make it meaningful, it is.

• If you’re into home decor, switching out wreathes and interior decorations is a good way to stay in tune with the feel of the season.

• Warding your home! This can take many forms, such as a witch ball, wind chimes, a rock guardian, or whatever else you see fit!

• Adding charged water to your cleaning supplies can really help intent and usher in the seasons. I like to use solar water with some lemon to welcome in the spring and summer and moon water with some chai spices to welcome in fall and winter. Some people like to use this method for a magical mopping scenario, I just use it for the front door.

• Laundry magic is real, y'all. Even if you don’t make your own detergent or fabric softener, you can buy scents that correspond with certain intents (citrus for joy, lavender for relaxation, etc).

• I enjoy working my crystals and plants in my home decor. Our little rock and plant friends are great for keeping a home feeling happy and healthy. They raise the energy of the home, but also make it a bit more inviting in feeling and appearance.

These are just a few tips and tricks I’ve learned along the way. As always, do what works best for you! If that means tweaking things or just making up a new process all together, do your thing! As long as you make your choices meaningful to you, they will serve you well. ✨
