The way they love their captain... đ
They love him SO MUCH đ
hi, holy shit, YOU ARE AMAZING AND SO GODDAMN TALENTED, wowâlike, your writing is already so vividly descriptive and brilliant, and then, as if that wasnât enough on its own, you go to the lengths of including FUCKING ASCII ART to truly underscore the reality of those images sticking with the reader by not only showing them to the reader in the text (in the sense of, like, the reader as a character-insert) but also showing them to US, the actual readerS (in the sense of the reader as the irl audience) i am so, so, SO blown away, and i feel so immensely thrilled and privileged to share this space on this website with such gifted and extraordinary fellow fanwork creators.
i (platonically) smooch you and your big beautiful brain. mwah.
âlove, @siegescript (^w^)
STOPPP OMG GUYS MY FIRST FANMAIL. 𼲠Im so touched. I worked hard on the art thing so im glad people liked it, was genuinely worried people would hate it đđ. It was fun to do though. I won't do it often or anything though, it helped create a very specific feeling that i wanted in the one shot. Even if i did do another scary-ish gore thing there prob won't be any of it. The reason I put it is because I felt like it needed something to show both the intensity of feelings and also an almost.. maybe empty feeling? I feel like an actual image would've been too like, real. I wanted it to feel disconnected story wise, and the txt art was the best i could think of. Especially since the shapes are vague enough that you still use your imagination like with regular reading, therefor not interrupting the mindset of being in reading mode, also helped that its still in the text format and not a whole image. I thought of things like the faith horror game or milk inside a bag of milk where the shapes are vague and still the same color as everything else to give off a sort of empty feeling. Thats why i never gave the reader any super big emotional moments where they fight and insult, because it happened. Before they even thought it happened, it happened, and theres nothing else that can be done. An incomplete empty feeling while still clearly being disturbed by what happened. Sorry if i'm rambling just wanted to give my thought process. Anyway when i got this i started showing it off immediately i'm so happy since its so like specific and stuff and my first fanmail where someone gave their genuine thoughts and stuff. Im putting it in its old folder in my phone gallery.
Luffy x GN!Reader. TW Mentions of abusive relationship. Some cursing. 3045ish words.
Part 1, Part 2, Part 3
While the two of you are walking you choose to stay silent. Youâd like to talk, of course, but youâre scared. Itâs stupid, you told Luffy and yourself that you wouldnât be like this; but the thought of Luffy finding out you had such a relationship feels so shameful. Not to mention, what if he doesnât believe you? Mante has done so much more good than you, of course anyone would doubt it; sometimes, even you doubt it. Mante, the handsome, kind, talented philanthropist. The man who had climbed from the bottom, the one that gives hope to others that were in his position. Maybe... itâs just better if Luffy doesnât know. What if he finds you weak for allowing yourself to be manipulated and abused for so long? The other option is he does believe you, but if that happens he isnât going to brush it off. Even if you donât like it, Mante is good for people. You were just the exception, and not all the time. Your mind goes to the people in his charity, the kids that light up at the sight of food. You⌠you just arenât as important as the majority. Even if you want to think otherwise, you canât. All options lead to ruin if Luffy finds out. âWe havenât been on a date like this in a while, just focus on that.â You tell yourself, too distracted to notice Luffy staring at you.
â(Y/n).â He says and you jolt slightly.
âY-Yeah?â Youâre clearly anxious, dread filling you. Luffy frowns, he can tell you arenât okay.
âNevermind.â He wants to force you to tell him, or make assumptions to help you; but he knows that wonât help. Not in the way that you need. You two eventually make it to a hill with some trees, a good view of the festival below. He sits down with you next to him, fighting his instinct to grab you immediately and tell you youâre stupid for hiding things from him. Youâre his crewmate, his nakama, his love. You taught him that romantic love doesnât always have to be passionate, something you have to change yourself for, or complicated. He just wishes that you were as understanding and bold for yourself as much as you are for others. His hand squeezes yours lightly and you stare at it, then at him. Luffyâs face is calm, but his eyes are slightly nervous.
âLuffyâŚâ You hate that youâre making him make that face. Youâre caught between a rock and a hard place. Do you fight for yourself and escape this prison of self doubt and forced silence; or do you let yourself be whittled away for the greater good. You arenât even with him anymore, you escaped him, but it feels like you havenât. You can talk and make connections, but it just feels like your cage is bigger. That the spaces are wider, youâre still trapped but if you narrow your sight to the space outside your cage, you can pretend that youâre free. While youâre lost in your thoughts you feel yourself pulled closer to your boyfriend. He doesnât say anything, just holding you there, holding your hand through the bars of your cell. Tears prick at your eyes, but they donât fall yet. Instead you reach for comfort, turning to hug Luffyâs side with your face on his shoulder. Being this sad when youâre away from your ex to where itâs affecting your current relationship, you feel like a bad person.
âI think youâre great.â Luffy says softly and you look up at him, shocked for a moment how he somehow read your mind. He laughs slightly at your reaction, âShi shi shi, did I get it right? I knew you were thinking bad stuff about yourself.â his bright smile turns to a warm one. âIt feels like a thought youâd have when youâre like this.â He presses his forehead to yours. âAnd it feels like a thought maybe Iâd have if I was like this.â His mind goes to Ace and how he had let the death of his brother almost ruin his life, almost erase the memories of friendships he had made. Support in that time saved him, so heâll be your support now.
âLuffy, Iâm sorry.â You respond, guilt welling up inside you realizing youâre making him remember his own trauma. âI donât want to keep things from you, I donât; but it feels so⌠complicated. I wish it wasnât.â
âIt doesnât have to be.â The captain says, but you know better, this is different from what Luffy has gone through or how he had saved your other crewmates. You know this isnât as simple as beating someone up. You put your head in your hands, youâre stressed. So stressed, it feels like your cage is only getting smaller and the void around you is only getting darker. Itâs only when you hear Luffy getting up when you panic, did he get tired of this?
â(Y/n)?â Itâs like cold water was splashed on you, you turn around and see him, Mante. âGods, itâs really you.â His face is blurry, your brain instinctively trying to block it out to protect you. Luffy steps in between you two, his face serious. Manteâs intimidated, but his focus is on you so much he manages to stand his ground. âI havenât seen you in so long, I thought you mightâve died for a while but I saw your wanted poster and-â
âHey.â Luffyâs voice booms. âWhat do you want from them.â Mante flinches, youâre all outside but the tension is high as if in a stuffy room. He has a nervous smile on, trying to save face.
âIâm not here to do anything bad. I just wanted to see them, maybe talk for a bit. My performance ended a while ago and I had noticed you and your friend-â
âBoyfriend.â You manage to correct him and his expression falters.
â...Boyfriend.â He repeats. âI.. I noticed you and your boyfriend going somewhere earlier, but I couldnât follow you since I was busy.â You scowl, the audacity for him to try and come to you; and for what?
âI left you, Mante. I donât care how I did it but I left you.â His eyes darken for a moment, Luffy catches it and gets into a fighting pose.
âIâm not even doing anything to you and youâre being rude to me. Did you even actually 'leave' me? You just ditched me, I know I had faults but to leave without even saying anything is cruel.â Memories of your escape come to mind from Manteâs words, and how risky it was.
âCruel?â You scoff and stand up. âIâm the cruel one? What were you gonna do if I said something? You were unstable, you could barely handle me saying anything âbadâ about you.â You clench your fists. âYou fucking asshole, acting as if it was that easy. As if I could just go to you and say âHey I want to break upâ when you know damn well you wouldâve done anything to stop me. Even if you had to kill me to do it.â Youâre shaking, terrified. Itâs to be expected, he had broken you down over and over to make you like this. Weak, pliable, âkindâ, scared. Luffy can see your trembling and heâs doing everything in his power to stop himself from punching Mante to hell, telling himself that you deserve to do this yourself. If he were any younger he wouldâve already snapped and tried to solve this with what he thinks would help, but heâs matured now; even if heâs radiating murderous intent. Mante canât even take a step towards you. Your hand goes to Luffyâs, holding it. He calms down slightly.
âYou.. Youâre exaggerating, I wasnât that bad. Youâre remembering things wrong since we were both in rough times.â Heâs defensive, already using those same words you would hear back then. âYou have to understand my point of view, (Y/n). I never wanted to hurt you, I would just lose control sometime but still never hit too hard-â Luffy snaps and tries to run to Mante but you wrap your arms around his waist.
âLet go! He hurt you!â Your boyfriend says, adamant. Even with his maturing he can only tolerate so much.
âLuffy please, just.. stay with me.â Your voice is breathy, stopping yourself from having a panic attack. The sight helps him calm down slightly and he hugs you.
âWe donât have to be here, Iâll tell the rest of the crew we can leave.â His anger is only pacified by your comfort being more important.
âW-Wait, Iâm sorry.â Mante suddenly apologizes. âI didnât think you were this affected, but I shouldâve been better to you anyway. I.. Iâm sorry for that, and Iâm sorry for treating you badly in the past.â The apology you wanted for so long⌠youâve gotten it. So why is it so much less satisfying than you thought? The cause of your pain is here, looking genuinely guilty, you should be happy. This should be it for you, fix you, free you; but it isnât.
â...Did you even love me?â You ask your ex, continuing to talk before he can respond. âYou hurt me, so much. Youâre right, you were going through a rough time, I thought about that every time I would have to stand there and take your anger or calm myself down alone when I had the chance. âHeâs stressed, thatâs all.â âHe loves me, just has trouble sometimes showing it.â I made excuses for you over and over. After I escaped I didnât know what to think, I didnât have anything. Sometimes I even considered going back to you because I would struggle so much being alone. Maybe I even wouldâve, if I didnât have the privilege of being found.â You look at Luffy, who feels a mixture of anger and happiness. âI can tell what youâre thinking, you think I couldâve done it on my own even if you and the others didnât find me, right?â He stares at you, then nods. âI knew it, feels like a thought you would have.â Your words calm him more and brightens a little, smiling at you. Mante stands there, face dark. âAre you expecting me to expose you? Let everyone know how horrible you can be inside?â
âI wouldnât be surprised if you decided to, but I.. I really hope you donât. Iâm helping people, and youâve already seemed to have moved on.â He has a point, except you havenât been fully able to move on yet. You hug your boyfriend for a bit, then pull back to walk to Mante.
âIâm not going to tell anyone.â You say and both his and Luffyâs eyes go wide.
"You arenât-â
âYou arenât!?â A crowd of voices say. Youâre startled, and look to the side to see your friends minus Robin and Franky. They were hiding, and attempted to hide again. Itâs pointless and Usopp quickly tries to save it.
âWell we were just passing by and we just got here donât worry-â Usopp starts but Zoro interrupts him.
âIâll slice him to pieces if you want me to.â Usopp stares at Zoro in betrayal. âOnly if you want me to.â He reiterates.
âYouâre seriously not going to say anything? Are you still scared?â Nami says, worried as she casually pushes the two men to the side. âYou donât have to be scared, you know.â She knows how it feels to be stuck, too scared to ask for help that youâd even cover for your abuser. Nami doesnât want you to feel like that. The sight of your friends, here and worried, unlocks something in you, helps you realize something. You can get out of your cell, that you didnât have to hide this for so long. Here you were, assuming that they wouldnât be able to take it, that it would bring up bad memories or make things uncomfortable but even Nami isnât forcing you to do anything. Your chest feels lighter, and you turn back to Mante.
âIâm not doing this out of the kindness of my heart.â You say as you shake your head, walking to Mante. âIâm doing it because I can, because I decided that Iâm tired of letting him control me.â
â(Y/n)..â Mante says, looking guilty but touched. âI donât deser-â
âYeah, you donât, and Iâm not doing this for you. Donât get me wrong.â Your hand reaches up and grips Manteâs neck. âI am not a pushover thatâll forgive anything. You do good to the world and you seem to have been trying to repent, thatâs the only reason Iâm letting you free.â Your hand tightens its grip and Mante tries to gasp, struggling. âYour retribution will be using the rest of your life to help others. If I ever hear even a rumor that youâve done something like this again, embezzled money, taken advantage of someone, stopped your charities, anything. Iâm coming back, and Iâm giving you your punishment with my own hands.â With that, you let him go. Mante coughs and gasps to gain his breath, your friends more satisfied now. He looks pathetic like this, coughing, like your places have switched. Youâre different from him though, anger is only a sign he still has a hold over you. Youâre done letting his emotions control yours. âI want you gone. Leave.â He looks up at you, emotions conflicting in his mind. Guilt, appreciation, fear, but you want none of it. He stands up and you take a deep breath. âWaitâ You say before he can leave. He turns to face you and you punch him in the stomach, hard. He coughs and gasps, you do it again with your other hand. Okay, some anger is natural emotion, and you wonât let him go free without some pain, he just objectively deserves it. Plus, if he gets a bruise his dancer outfit will show he can just cover it up, you did it plenty of times. âOkay, now leave.â He struggles to walk and you watch him as he limps away. Once his figure has faded you breathe a sigh of relief, another big weight lifted off your chest. You crouch down with your head hanging, you did it, that was insane you actually did it.
âShi shi shi.â You hear a familiar laugh from next to you. Luffyâs crouched down next to you too, looking happy. âYou didnât need me at all, see?â He says, pleased. You wrap your arm around him and pull him in for a hug, which he gladly reciprocates while kissing your cheek. The joy emanating from him is contagious and you end up smiling too, pulling back to smooch him. He smooches back and soon the two of you keep peppering kisses on eachotherâs faces, giggling a little.
âYohohoho~ Youth is very good to see.â Brook says with a hand on his mouth as you two act lovey dovey.
âHahaha!â Jinbe laughs heartily. âThat it is!â You look at your crewmates, all of them looking happy, even if Zoro is pretending he finds it annoying. Heâd rather have this than you miserable. Sanji is happy for you two as well, of course, even if he wishes he also had what you have, no heâs not crying from jealousy heâs just having a nosebleed from his eyes. Usopp gently pats him on the back, offering comfort awkwardly. You look back towards the festival, youâre happy. Even if this isnât magically going to completely pull you from the cell youâve been trapped in, Luffy and the others have opened the door, letting you know that even if itâll take time for you to fully come out, theyâll always be there. You even spot an eyeball and an ear surrounded with petals on a tree, smiling at it as the firework show starts. Everyone sits with you, watching it as they start to talk and enjoy the pretty lights. They couldnât leave you behind after all, and walking around in a crowded area is overrated anyway. Chopper jumps up and down happily, making happy noises as his eyes shine. Your eyes trail to Luffyâs, whose hand is intertwined with yours.
âThank you.â You whisper while looking down to not only him, but all your friends too. Youâd assume they didnât hear you, but when you look up at Luffy heâs smiling at you.
âYouâre welcome!â He says, and you look to the side to see your crewmates looking at you too. Apparently you had whispered it in the small moment it was silent before the fireworks continued.
âYouâre welcome too.â Nami smiles at you and winks.
âMe too, me too!â Chopper exclaims while hopping onto your lap. Everyone else says the same, even Zoro who was quietly arguing with Sanji, and Usopp who had pretended not to hear at first to save you from the embarrassment. Is this bad luck or good luck? Youâre so happy to hear these âYouâre welcomeâ, but you also feel like collapsing and playing dead possum style from getting caught saying something sappy. The fireworks have already started up again though, so you decide to slowly turn your attention to that, praying that your friends and boyfriend take the hint. Thankfully they do, and you all spend the rest of the festival in each other's presence.
Bonus:
âWAHHHH YOUâRE WELCOME TOO (Y/N)!!!â Franky says while sobbing, pouring tears from his eyes as Robin lightly chuckles, having finished telling Franky what had happened.
âYou can tell them when theyâre back.â She says to the shipwright, whoâs on his hands and knees crying so hard he would definitely pass out if he werenât a cyborg.
âY-Youâre right.â He says, getting motivated. âIâve got to make sure they have a SUPER place to come back to.â Franky says as he gets up, quickly running inside the ship to build you something youâd like. Robin puts her hand to her eye again, looking at your embarrassed but happy face, her mood improving more when she sees your hand squeeze Luffyâs. Sheâll get something ready for you too, youâre her precious friend as well, after all.
Phew finally finished, sorry I took so long I suddenly lost the motivation for it and I got into replaying P5r then I started Hollow Knight. But I got it. Sorry if the ending and how it ended up is unsatisfying. There are a lot of stories where everything ends up okay and I kinda felt like not doing that. Ofc things CAN end up being okay but I felt like there wasn't enough stories where the abuser wasn't just very clearly evil and no good. As someone who's been through bad things from people who have multiple sides I felt like this was the best thing to do. If you want Mante in jail you can say that he ended up doing something bad and you did whatever punishment you want, I left it somewhat open for that, but this is where it ends for the story I wrote. People are many, even bad ones, and life is complicated. If you have someone in your life that you are unable to fully cut off or bring to full punishment i feel for you. This ending wasn't a "Well you should just forgive and forget" it was more of a "Even if things are complicated there is still ways to break free from your abuser"
i just wanted something to help me feel less alone when the world around me is so stressful all of the time
Shanks x gender neutral reader. Platonic. 744 words. 'thought' "speech"
You and Shanks walk through town, youâre lesser known so you donât have to wear any disguises but Shanks is wearing a cloak to avoid anything happening. A fight isnât a problem, but itâs a bother. He puts the hood down to let his hair air out, itâs humid so itâs a bit suffocating having it on. When heâs airing it out a civilian notices. Shanks looks at them and they slowly pull out a transponder snail, before your captain can knock them out in public you stop him and walk to the person. âNoticed you saw us.â You say and they nervously put their hands up. âRelax, this happens kinda often, just came to clear things up. You think heâs Red-Haired Shanks, yeah?â You point back at Red-Haired Shanks who keeps a straight face watching you.
âNo I didnât- I mean-â
âNo itâs fine, but he isn't. Sorry for the confusion, thatâs why he usually wears the hood when heâs out. Itâs easier than having to explain it to every person who misunderstands. The civilian looks confused, looking to Shanks who quickly changes his expression from also confused to a nervous smile while putting his hood back up.
âHuh? Not him?â
âYeah my friend gets confused for him kinda often, the Marines have been starting to get kinda pissed off since they keep getting called for false alarms. Itâs kind of a shit coincidence they look alike, especially since he lost an arm during a construction accident years ago even before Red Hair lost his arm.â Shanks stares at you as you speak, trying to keep his expression while he watches you shamelessly lie to this person.
âBut the scar, and the facial hair?â You only take a split second before coming up with more.
âAh, man.â You put a hand to your head like youâre annoyed. âSorry, it's not your fault. He keeps his facial hair like that because it looks nice, I mean Shanks kinda has the attractive ruggish look yeah, though would be better if he werenât a criminal doppelganger of my friend. For the scar, well look closer.â You pull his hood down and the civilian puts his transponder snail away. âHairâs a bit more orangey, and his scarâs on the wrong eye.â Shanksâs hair just looks like that from the afternoon sun, and the scar part is just a straight up lie. However, memories can be slightly altered and the person starts to look unsure.
âTrue, Red Hair is said to have completely red hairâŚâ They stare at Shanks whoâs biting the inside of his cheek to stop a smile.
âIt is. You can call Marines if you want but theyâre not gonna do anything except ruin me and my friendâs outing and probably yell at you.â You say, the civilian looking unsure.
âIt is on the wrong eye..â Gaslighting works wonders, especially with fear of being wrong.
âThey bought that!?â Shanks almost widens his eyes but keeps it in.
âLooks older too.â They add.
âOuch.â Shanks closes his eyes in pain.
âShoot, Iâm really sorry.â You did it, they apologize and you pat the personâs back while looking into their eyes.
âItâs okay, I just donât like wasting the Marinesâ time nor do I want to get you in trouble.â You say, having a sympathetic look on your face like you actually care. The person nods and you motion for Shanks to put his hood back up, which he does. After that you share a few pleasantries, joking about the âfirst few timesâ your friend got âmistakenâ as Shanks. Charismatic conversation and a few words from Shanks with him changing his voice a bit is all it takes until you two leave completely safe. Once you two get somewhere more private Shanks puts a hand on his face and crouches down, bursting out into laughter. Youâre shameless, absolutely and utterly shameless.
âConstruction accident? O-On the wrong eye?â Your captain stutters in between laughs as you smile.
âHey, it was for the greater good. Arenât you glad I'm good at improvising.â
âImprovising my ass, youâre a straight up liar!â He manages to stand back up straight, still cracking up a bit as he wipes a tear from his eye.
âWeâre leaving this place tomorrow morning anyway, doesnât matter.â You say with a shrug.
âGood to have you on my side, Iâm never playing poker with you again.â He pats you on the back.
âDarn.â You snap your fingers.
why are you yellow
the incident
Wow feminist king
Aight bet-
Can i get Shanks paired with a female reader (romatically) who is also missing an arm and/or has red hair.
Thank you v.v
Not my bestest work but I thought it was funny and warm.
Shanks x Fem!Reader. Reader has red hair and missing arm. Miku is Miku even if she looks different so skin color or hair texture can be anything else. Small angst(?) but mostly fluff. Drabble + Headcanons
âI get we have the same hair and stump but did you really need to go this far? You even drew the scar on me.â You touch your eye where some friends had drawn Shanksâs signature scar on.
âThis fits so well! You might as well be his female form.â Youâre all near a bar, one of your friends got the idea to dress you up as Red Haired Shanks after getting drunk. âStrike a pose or somethin-â Theyâre interrupted when yelling is heard.
âC-CAPTAIN!?â You hear from behind you, turning to see a group of men staring at you.
âCaptain?â You think to yourself, confused before it clicks. These must be Red Hair Pirates, but how? This is a crazy coincidence that theyâre here right as youâre dressed up. Your mind runs at a million miles a second and you clamp a hand over your friendâs mouth before they speak. âWell, I got caught by a devil fruit. Changed my looks a bit but I look good as a woman too, right?â You smirk, going along with it. Unfortunately, your cover is blown almost immediately when a head peeks over your shoulder to look at you.
âHmm. I do look good as a woman, donât I?â Itâs Red Haired Shanks, another coincidence and you jolt with a yelp. âFreaking out, Miss Red Hair? Not very Emperor-like.â He teases with a grin. Maybe you shouldnât have tried to go with the joke considering how quickly you got caught, and by the man himself. âWhatâs my female doppelganger doing here?â He looks at your friends with a wink, this is so embarrassing. âPopular as a woman too?â
That was how the two of you met, a funny cosplay of a funny guy.
You were scared at first you were going to get in trouble for impersonating him, even if it was a joke and you were caught immediately.
Shanks isnât a sore sport though and he actually found it really funny.
He had stayed at the island and you were good company, proving to be a good fighter as well.
He couldnât just leave an attractive and strong woman alone, right?
You ended up joining his crew along with a few of your other friends that could fight and wanted to go, the rest you all sending letters to any others often.
The official number of redheads in the Red Hair Pirates is now two.
The two of you two hit it off, cracking similar arm jokes and having fun together, it was perfect.
It really wasnât long until you both ended up dating, then came new jokes.
âNarcissist.â Thatâs what people like to tease you both about.
Dating a person that can look like a genderbent version of you with the right clothes and makeup is definitely narcissistic.
Of course, you both take it with pride.
Shanks even likes to show you off, calling himself the luckiest man ever to find the most beautiful woman ever to play into the narcissist joke.
Something on a more personal level is that the two of you can relate to missing an arm, helping each other with phantom pain and insecurities.
After all, when the person you love has the same imperfection as you itâs hard to be insecure about it.
Youâre perfect to him and him to you, despite your disabilities.
Itâs nice to have someone that understands, that knows how hard it is to deal with losing a limb.
When youâre feeling insecure sometimes Shanks puts his stump on yours, smiling and calling you both âstump buddiesâ before kissing you.
If the weather is bad and youâre both struggling with pains you can hold each other, finding comfort in the warmth of your lover.
Shanks holds you tight, even if heâs clenching his jaw, always trying to put your pain above his no matter how much you try and tell him he matters too.
It makes you feel insecure, he should have a partner that would be able to help him without struggling themselves, but to him youâre everything.
Heâd rather hold you while shaking from pain himself than be comforted by anyone else.
These bad moments with you are more precious to him than the best with anyone else.
Ahh the smoek from the fire is givinf me a headache :((
