Dive Deep into Creativity: Discover, Share, Inspire
Hey! In the preview of the next episode I saw this screen and ... no it just wasn't Tomura, so I took the liberty of correcting it a bit and adding the art direction of the new opening š
Heyoooo
I tested some of D.A's suggestion for some of MHA's Season 7 shots. For Toga, I don't know what the weather is like at the moment. But I tested a cloudier and more threatening sky. For Tomura, I realized that his fight against Star and Stripes was supposed to take place in the stratosphere. I therefore tested an A.D. taking this parameter into account.
Mmm, yessir. Ready to go back on my daily brain rots and machination about MHA nad Izuku theories just for the funsies
I've missed too damn much reading posts this good and well written, damn š
(Ch. 336)
You know, this panel has always made me a little curious. Every other time we saw Izuku sparring with Katsuki (before the war started at least), heād use blackwhip to defend himself, hence ācatch-a-kacchanā so I found it weird how Izuku didnāt even try to grab Katsuki. For like 100 chapters prior to this, he used blackwhip for everything and would eventually just leave it out incase he needed it quickly kinda like how Hawks utilized his feathers (when he had them) so I kinda just made a mental note about how weird it was that Izuku chose to evade instead of defend when he easily couldāve.
I also found it weird how quickly Izuku wanted to change the topic along with the distress on his face. I thought it was just a cheap and ooc way of explaining Todorokiās new power quickly but, since itās now confirmed that Izuku has PTSD about Katsukiās sacrifice, what if Katsukiās cluster move triggers that trauma response too?
The next time we see cluster used with Izuku present, Izuku actually does respond with blackwhip.
(Ch. 404)
He doesnāt use it in defense though, he uses it in almost possessive way by securing their hands together with it. But also, he doesnāt speak for this entire chapter. It could be explained away by the side effect of using gearshift and him not being able to breath but before now, heās been more focused while in distress and was also speaking just fine before. Though, in these panels, and through the entire chapter, he seems almost delirious and in shock. Heās not even reacting to the lack of oxygen anymore.
He even starts ignoring Shigaraki in these moments. Heās stunned and mesmerized but now Iām starting to question whether heās amazed or scared out of his mind for what might happen. With that uncertainty, all that I can say confidently is that heās distracted.
(Season 7 ep. 4)
Arguably after chapter 404, he stops thinking straight and, honestly, gets a little sloppy. A few chapters after this, is when gets danger sense stolen and starts getting truly injured. He makes the decision to give away OFA and loses his arms. He reverts right back into his āI donāt care what happens to meā mentality that his class has been trying to get him to grow out of for a while.
He wasnāt mentally prepared for something to go wrong in this fight. He wasnāt mentally prepared to be pulled away, leaving Katsuki with Shigaraki. I thought it was just iffy writing that heād mentally regress after Katsuki woke up instead of before but, it honestly makes a lot more sense now. He cared about what happened to himself because he needed to stay alive to ensure Katsukiās revival. Once Katsuki woke up and he watched him fight AFO, he started being reckless again. He went back to viewing himself as nothing but a vessel for OFA because he believes OFA is the only thing that can beat AFO, hence why he trusted the vestiges when they said āwe can fight him from the insideā (which I think was a silly decision. Itās noble in theory but it amounted to nothing because Izuku canāt win in this regressive state of self sacrifice anymore. Or at least, he shouldnāt since itās such a big part of his arc.).
And now, with the most recent chapter with most of his classmates present it seems like heās regretting that decision because heās being reminded that people care about him. They showed up to support him regardless of already being hurt because he canāt win on his own. Eri mutilated herself to help him and if that doesnāt tell him that fighting without the intent of not dying is stupid, idk what will.
(Ch. 421)
He was about to just throw himself back into the fight with the same mindset as before if Aizawa didnāt stop him. He looks frustrated because he realizes the weight of what heās been doing and how looking up to AM and the previous vestiges shouldnāt be his role models right now considering all of their fates. Heād just be continuing OFAs curse like Katsukiās been worried about for a hundred something chapters.
In conclusion, this post was very unfocused but I canāt wait to see Izuku kick ass and for Katsuki to show back up because with the impact heās had on Izuku, I DESPERATELY need them to talk. Most of this post may have very well been a stretch but, let me be delusional please.

Crunchyroll: *MHA season 7* heyyyy
Me: HOLY SHIT KATSUKI HERE I COME!!
With Iida, not only is he one of Shoutoās closer friends- but he also contrasts and parallels Shouto and Touyaās relationship.
Tenya looks up to his brother, and Tensei is motivated to do better because of that- they have a very wholesome brother-relationship.
While with the Todorokis⦠Touya has literally tried to killed Shouto and even indirectly Natsuo. Shouto has literally done absolutely nothing wrong to Touya- he was a baby when most of Touyaās trauma was happening, and he wasnāt allowed near him growing up. But Shouto still loves him unconditionally.
Even though the relationship between the Iida brothers is so different from the Todorokis- Tenya can still understand how Shouto feels. Tenya couldnāt save Tensei- so that was why he had to do everything he could so Shouto could save Touya (and the rest of his family + the civilians)
Tsuyuās backstory is explained in an extra manga chapter that was then animated in one of the OVAs. We get insight into her family and one of her friends- though we donāt really know the reason WHY she became a hero. We still donāt in way.
What we do know is that Tsuyu believed a hero is someone who follows the rules. She tells Toga this, and says that Uraraka doesnāt care about the rules- she just wants to help, so she asks Toga to listen to her.
In my opinion, Tsuyu isnāt really a developed character. Iād say Ashido and Jirou have more development than her. Tsuyuās reasoning in what a hero is- contradicts what the audience is shown.
āHeroes should follow the rulesā
But what about the unjust rules?
Lady Nagant and Hawks are basically child soldiers. When Nagant asked if what theyāre doing is the right thing- the HPSC president responded by pULLING OUT A GUN- when Nagant killed him, that couldāve been argued to be self-defense. Instead, sheās thrown in jail for people she was groomed to kill, and the murder of the HPSC president was covered up.
Hero society is shown to be corrupt- so I think we shouldāve been shown more insight on how a character like Tsuyu handles the reality that laws arenāt always right. I want to see how she wouldāve been forced to reevaluate her way of thinking. How the world that society said it was- was a lot more complicated than she thought.
People should follow the rules- but when the rules are harming people who just want to live their normal lives- we need to make adjustments to the rules so more people donāt have to suffer trying to become something they are not.
Tenya was also shown to be a very rule-abiding person at the beginning of the series. Even so, we see what his breaking point is- so whatās Tsuyuās breaking point? How does she connect to the Uraraka & Toga arc?
From how I interpreted the arc, Toga was someone who needed to be understood as a human being. The reporter, Curious, wanted to understand her- but she only wanted to understand her as a news headline, as a martyr for the Liberation Army.
Uraraka says in the fight, that she canāt ignore all the hurt Toga caused, she canāt accept every part of Toga, she canāt love her in the way that Toga wants her to- but she wants to understand who Himiko Toga is, why she smiles and why she cries.
Uraraka saw the āuglinessā in Togaās heart, and she acknowledged that- but she also saw the beauty and pain in her heart as well.
How does Tsuyu fit into this????
Itās mentioned that Tsuyu struggled in middle school to make friends, as people couldnāt read her expression since she has a poker face. Perhaps she understands the whole āwanting to be understoodā thing?
It could also be a case of quirk discrimination. As weāve been shown, mutation quirks are looked down upon.
The thing with Tenya is that role was a small part, and yet a big part of the arc he was in. He told Shouto that he is able to be the hero he wants to be now thanks in part to him- and that Shouto can be the hero he wants to be as well; he didnāt say much, and yet that says so much more.
Idkā¦maybe the role Tsuyu couldāve had is something like āShe is someone who was discriminated against for her quirk, and people failed to understand her or see her as a human being- but she had a loving family and friends to support herā
-so then the conversation couldāve been more like Tsuyu trying to empathize with Toga and let her know that Uraraka was there to support Tsuyu, so now sheās here to help her as well.
Or it could even have mentioned Tsuyuās friend from middle school- who also struggled to make friends as well. They were both people who others couldnāt understand them (because of their unexpressive faces) and because of that they connected to each other.
I think it was even mentioned that Himiko is the āoldestā child of her family, soā¦what about her siblings? How does she feel about them? Could Tsuyu and Toga being older siblings parallel somehow???
The more I talk about this- the more I wonder if Tsuyu shouldāve saved Toga or have an equal role to Uraraka. There could be a lot of similarities when I really think about itā¦
I think the āruleā thing couldāve worked, but I think Tsuyu shouldāve had her own arc and perspective shown for it to have more impact.
Maybe this is just a me- thing, but I think Tsuyu shouldāve been fleshed out more if she is the character supporting one of the Savior trio.
