okay it got better for sureeee!!
its a bit of a slow start for me personally, but i thoroughly enjoyed the 2/3 and then the 3/3 even more!
im not sure if i will get the sequel or not, ill read a few more books and see if im still thinking about emily wilde after that.
spoilers below
wendell and emilyâs dynamic is hilarious after the proposal. they are so direct with each other normally, but when it comes to romance they just avoid actually speaking of it as such.
i really enjoyed how the town accepted emilyâs way of being, that she is not good with attention or small talk or pleasantries. they didnt demand any kind of thanks from her, they knew she was thankful without it.
3.5/5 âď¸
im reading emily wildeâs encyclopaedia of faeries right now and im not sure how i feel about it.
like i like it dont get me wrong. i eat anything up that has fairies of any kind.
but im a very.. emotional person, and so the format of the book being emilyâs diary, and her being quite a.. professional and almost stoic? person, doesnt quite engage me as much.
maybe she taps into her emotions later in the story (iâm about a 1/3 of the way through) so idk!! thats just my thoughts so far
Book:
This story is based on protagonist named Will Traynor, a successful, passionate, adventurous and sporty person who loves travelling and do anything which pushes him to the verge which makes his life more amazing. Its 2007, when heâs leaving for his office and the rain was pouring heavily and while he was crossing the road to hail a cab then bam a bike lost its control and hit him. That accident made Will quadriplegic. The story starts two years after that accident. Louisa Clark, a bubbly and chirpy girl, who belongs to the middle class family and trying her best to feed her family. Itâs the time of recession and Louisa is one of those people who loses her job. Then she tries her luck in different job but couldnât get along with any. Then she finds the job as a carer at Traynorâs house that are paying hourly wage. Her parents push her to try for this job. The job based on the contract of six-months to take care or somehow entertain Will Traynor. At first the job seems to her pretty boring because the way Will talks to her made her blood boil. Soon after they become good friends and Will tries to pursue her to do those things which she thinks are not her cup of tea.
I like it when Will try to pushes Louisa to an edge where she has done anything which is extreme for her like tattoo making, scuba diving, etc. things she only dreamt about but never wanted to take a risk of getting out of her comfort zone. On the other hand, Louisa is trying her best for Will to change his mind and never go to Switzerland. They both fell in love but Will knows that itâs not good for both of them to be like this forever. The story ends with Louisa sitting in Paris reading the letter that Will has written for her before his death. Itâs Will wish that Louisa should see the world and do everything which makes her happy and heâll be there for her.
I canât forget about the letter, each words are still resonate in my ear and itâs like heâs written that for me I know it sound stupid because I cry for that like an idiot and I canât help it.
Movie:
As soon as I finished reading the book, I started watching movie. Well, talking about movie itâs not that much good but the fact is they canât put whole book in just 1:30-2:00 hours. But it is not that bad, a must watch movie along with Ed Sheeran songs in it. Besides, most of the dialogues are taken from the book. I like Emilia Clarkeâs acting, but still itâs funny to see how âmother of dragonsâ go crazy over stripy-tights as a present on her birthday (just kidding). The voice of Sam Claflin is so mesmerising, I can listen to him all day, why doesnât he become a radio jockey (another bad joke, sorry for that).
While watching the movie, I remembered Bollywood movie named Guzaarish (2010). The movie revolves around the magician named Ethan Mascarenhas (Hritik Roshan) who is quadriplegic since 14 years and files the petition in court asking for ending his life. But the court rejects his plea. Sofia DâSouza (Aishwarya Rai Bachchan) his caretaker whoâs been with him since twelve years after his accident and was married to a man whoâs abusive to her. Later on Sofia gets divorce from her former husband and confess her love to Ethan. Ethan on other hand loves her too. In the end of the movie Ethan invites all of his closest people and says that he will be dying a happy man with no regrets and a heart full of Sofiaâs love and bids all goodbye.
The story in this book (Me Before You) talks about the people who have lost control over their body due to severe spinal injury caused by accident. There are mainly four types of paralysis, namely, Quadriplegic (is a paralysis below the neck), monoplegia (is a paralysis of single part of the body), hemiplegia (paralysis of one side of the body) and paraplegia (is the paralysis below the waist). Though sometimes paralysis can be temporary and can be cured with proper treatment. But the fact is if itâs happen once then the chances are it can come back again. Because paralysis effects the spinal cord and spinal cord connects brain to the nerves throughout the body. Unfortunately, in many cases paralysis isnât curable. Though medical scientist are trying their best to find the solution for curing it. In the year 2016, there was a news claiming for a treatment of quadriplegic patient. Neuroscientist treated quadriplegic with stem cells and that patient had substantially recovered the functions of his upper body within two months into the process. You can read the whole article here.
There is a non-profit organisation named Dignitas in Switzerland, which provide assistance/accompanied suicide to those people who are suffering from long-time terminal/severe physical/ or mental illness with support from qualified Swiss doctors. Doctors check the personâs previous treatment report and ask them whether itâs their wish to die or theyâre coerced to do so. Though the method is a bit costly but some people prefer it to die peacefully. Dignitas is mentioned in book as well as in movie where Will has gone to end his life.
When I finished reading I was thinking what if Will listened to Louisa and never have gone to Switzerland? Will that make his life more miserable and painful or better?
At the end, this story reminds me that not every person are meant to stay in our life forever, no matter how hard we try to stop them to go, but eventually they play vital role to change our life for better.

#Q: Whatâs your weekend plans?
The Girl Of My Dreams 5đđ Author: Durjoy Datta @durjoydatta
Daman always wakes up to this name, Shreyasi, which haunts him like a nightmare but he feels like itâs another whole story of him. Daman had an accident in Goa. He lost his memory of that trip. But the name itâs all he knows and when he remembers it he becomes like a mad man . He cannot remember further.
But Daman had started another life for him being an aspiring writer whom he always wanted to be. And he found his love, Avni, who supports him and love him more than anything even herself. But those nightmares keep coming back. Everytime a different angle. But the face is hazy.
He tried to regain the memory but not even his frnds knew what had happened. All his efforts to know the story behind the name gone futile untill one day!!
The twists are remarkable. The story keeps you in it like a black hole. Once you touch the book you canât keep off it . I felt a flush of emotions while reading. And couldnât help myself. The characters are not perfect, theyâre flawed and broken, showing how really life is. Iâm in love with all the works of Durjoy Datta, amongst all this one and The Boy Who Loved are my favourites (Though, I didnât like the 2nd part of the latter- The Boy With A Broken Heart).
I truly am so excited to be back doing this. I had to remind myself on hiatus that taking a break is what I needed but I truly did miss this.Â
I am quite proud of the reading that I did in 2022 and I am going to push myself to read even more this year. As I have mentioned before one of my goals this year is to finish all of the series that I have started, both in 2022 and overall. Thus, many of my TBR lists this year will be full of sequels and continuations of series. I will do my best to not include spoilers but sometimes in book reviews it is just part of business.Â
Anyways, now that Iâve established âground rulesâ, letâs get into what I want to read in the month of January!
Clockwork Angel by Cassandra Clare
I know what I said above, I want to finish the series that I have already started and this is the first of a new series but hear me out, I have been wanting to read this for awhile and after I was finally able to FIND this book (which is more of a challenge than you would expect for a book that is nearly a decade old) I want to start it as soon as possible. You all have seen my opinion on the Mortal Instrument series but I heard that the Infernal Devices is far superior and I am just holding out for it.Â
Lightbringer by Claire Legrand
I have had this in at least one of my previous TBR lists and yes, I still haven't read it (hence why one of my goals is to finish series). I really loved the first two books in this series I just donât want it to end. This is quite a large book so If I do decide to read this I will probably try to read some shorter or stand alone novels to help my brain not shut down.Â
Sorcery of Thorns by Margaret RogersonÂ
Now for a standalone. I actually just bought this and honestly, I wouldnât have picked this up if Hannah (From Aclockworkreader) didnât make a reading vlog about this novel and loved it. It seems like something I would like I am just not sure why I always gravitate towards series instead of stand-alone novels. I have this book right in front of me and I actually plan on starting it after drafting this post (remember to keep up with me on Goodreads/Instagram @jooniens !)Â
A Reaper at the Gates by Sabaa Tahir
I started An Ember in the Ashes in November of 2022 and it has been true love. A Torch against the Night was my last read for 2022 and it was a great way to end a year of reading. This entire series has swept me off of my feet and I am so excited to keep reading, I just love these characters and this world so much. I accidentally bought this thinking that it was the second book so I had to go back to Barnes and Noble later (what a shame).Â
There isnât a lot on this list because half of my Goodreads TBR has gone missing(?) I know I trimmed it down but I donât think I had gotten rid of so much. Hopefully, I will be able to knock some of these titles off and start 2023 with some great reads. Â
Also, note that I will be bringing back the Mid-Month Reading updates however they will be brief posts and not as long as they were previously.Â
Have a very happy and safe new year!Â
Much Love,Â
June <3

đ my goal this year is to review every book I readđ I don't always but I really need to startđ #reviews #booklover #bookblogger #authorsofinstagram #authorlifemonth #bookreview #bookstagram
Its one of those book that gets real character thoughts and action packed at the end and when you put it down your neuron activity was like "what?"
(a/n:: THIS IS MYY FIRST REVIIEW WHAT DO I DO OO/ this is mostly my thoughts yes major event spoilers)
The story all started with Nico di Angelo, or at least when he started having repeated dream episode that got so bad he had to have daily therapy session with Dionysus. Suspecting this could be the torturous voice of Bob the Titan being trapped in Tartarus (sick name honestly would sent chill down my worst enemies), Nico and Will pack their knapsack and head down to the worst place imaginable.
insert thoughts - interfering with synopsis: the small thing that I really like about the rising action is that it's realistic. Unlike the prior book, there's no terrorizing deadline for their quest that if they don't meet it. BOOM. Nico and Will was taking a stroll in the park (or nyc subway system (without benches:<<<)) to meet Percy and Annabeth for advices.
Fast forward a couple of weeks because I benched this draft.
AND. My down to earth, honest to heaven, what people would called a 'for real' review is that: the writing was spectacular, rereading the original Percy Jackson recently I have come to appreciate Rick Riordan growth as a creative artist. As when I was frowning upon the obvious quest structure in labyrinth (the side quest were sometimes obviously so forrcceeeddd they felt like second thoughts when the editor just hey plot hole this can't happened because they didn't know this yet), In the sun and the star it was fantastic. Every side quest has gravity and necessity to reach the objective of the quest. It was really good, until they were in Tatarus (basically the entire climax, maybe the resolution?? it just wasn't satisfying) I felt like the entire satyr/centaur character was HECKLY unnecessary. It felt like my grade 5 fantasy writing assignment where I just gave up after all the sweats and tears put into the built up then end the story in one paragraph.
OH AND NYX, GOD SHE WOULD ACT IN EVERY WAY A PRIMORDIAL GODESS WOULDN'T. Her motive for causing this humbo jumbo isn't even clear. WHY WOULD THE EMBODIMENT OF DARKNESS EVEN GIVE ONE SHIT ABOUT SOME TITAN, MUCH LESS A DEMIGOD. . Wholeheartedly, this just felt like an excuse to send the to lovers to the darkest place under earth (thank you Nyx)
*rustling noise of turning another page* THANK GOD THERES CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT. HIGH FIVE WRITERS. Seeing how Wills view changes about his relationship with Nico and seeing the grumpy ball of darkness opening up to human connection is such a joy to read.
When addressing any series it is important to evaluate the successor as a continuation of the of the whole thing and kudosss sun and star is the step in the right direction for the series.
tl/dr: I pick this book up for Nico and didn't regret it one bit (could be better tho!
