Budapest Pride - Blog Posts

Today (technically yesterday, since for me it's past midnight) I went to Bidapest pride. It was amazing and I met two new people, who I think only let me tag along out of pity, but we had great conversation! Now what do I mean pity? Simple! I was gonna go with my friends, but in the end none of them could come. It is truly tragic, but I'll see them a different time. Pride was still fun without them in the end and I made two new friends/acquaintances anyway so more power to me I guess. Still I missed them...

But away with that stuff, here are some pictures I took!

My favourite is the old lady looking out the window with her rainbow umbrella :)

And on that note, let me tell you how many people were just looking out of their windows and watching the march, because there were a lot of them! How many? If I took a picture of all of them my phones memory would be full! (It probably wouldn't but I like to be a little dramatic)

There were also people who came to speak against us and we just shouted over them, like litterally. There were just people waiting for us at one point of the march, like not on our path, but next to it telling everyone who passed a taste of what they tought, wich of course was opposite to what we tought and to drown them out we just started cheering really loud, mostly just shouting. It was great.

I talk about it in such great lenght because it was my first pride march and I'm still super ecxited about it!

Thank you for reading! Have a good day/afternoon/night!

~ Hungary Pride And More...⬇️

English below:

[English:]

Well, I am not an enthusiastic supporter of Pride, but:

- People should be allowed to love whom they are naturally attracted to.

- People should have the right to assemble, if they do so in a cultured manner and in accordance with the rules, regardless of the nature of the assembly.

- The trend in which the country is heading is concerning, and not just because of the Pride law, but in every other aspect as well.

EU: illiberal mini-Putin in Hungary using the reactionary momentum for rollback of civil rights, LGBTIQ rights, women's rights, intersex rights, and rainbow families

Hungary's clampdown on Pride march sparks backlash
euronews
The Orbán administration has said that the country 'should not tolerate' the public event this year.

Constitutional reform in Hungary passed earlier by illiberal government. Veering further and further from checks on their authoritarian control of party structures, institutions, etc, these hypocritical right-populists, in Putin's pockets, believe women should also earn less than men.

Adoptions by same-sex couples were already banned I think, and women will now also have little protections from traditionalists who see them only as stay-at-home mothers- because the constitution adds bioessentialist language.

If this continues, Hungary should have no influence in European politics, and there are devices. And the same thing could have happened in Romania, happened in Poland, for a shorter while. European core values are threatened by people who don't respect freedom and human rights.

As Budapest Pride said- there was pride, there is pride, and there will be pride. Queer rights are human rights, now, and always.
