Historic Costuming - Blog Posts

This is among the loveliest things anyone has ever said about my art, thank you so much.

In addition to painting brainrot smut, I've been sewing for almost 30 years. I've made and altered a LOT of structured undergarments in pursuit of fantasy and historic costuming. I made my first cosplay of Xena: Warrior Princess at age 7, handsewn and made of old sheets and towels with aluminum foil over cardboard circles for rivets, lmao. After I could -actually- sew I started recreating clothes from the 1900s-1940s, which of course meant learning to sew foundation garments like stays, corsets, and bras.

Az's lingerie in this painting is based on a style from the ~1940s, though the decorative lace details I added are ahistoric and total fantasy. I just have a weird passion for lace motifs.

It's wonderfully fulfilling when two of my all-time, lifelong special interests dovetail as they did here and someone else notices. 🖤
