Now that "Sublimation" is officially out I have a few notes to add (trying not to be too spoilery):

Wish we could've seen how Adrien and Sublime started becoming friends. I don't think we will see this piece of information later on but well, one can hope. Adrien always gets sidelined and now it's him who made a new friend for himself, outside the sidelines. Regardless, they seem to have such a sweet friendship. Yep, still shipping Adrien/Sublime, now even more! Why are they pushing Adrienette so hard when it's toxic af!? So far Sublime and Adrien seem to have a nice connection, the kind of connection which is perfect to build a relationship on (yes, my head's full of ideas and "head"canons). Even Sublime's parents seem like they would get along nicely with Gabriel and Nathalie (Gabenath is real - can't convince me otherwise) With character developments Gabriel and Caroline could bond over how their cold demeanour aggravated their relationship with their kids and led to their own downfall too. Nathalie and Severin both have great bonds with their kids already (yes, Adrien is Nathalie's son!) so they can either bond over that or trash-talk their partners, both options are good. And ofc both Adrien and Sublime can bond over sooo many things. Both play instruments, both do sports, both seem to have similar childhoods, both raised to be perfect (although I didn't get the feeling Sublime was forced to do all the things she does while watching) still grew up to be the sweetest, both giving off golden retriever energy, both seemingly being into Greek history (stan them for this)

Ah yes, I'm full of ideas. We could have all this...with competent writers but alas, at least we got fanfiction and our headcanons

Sidenote: did anyone else get the feeling when Adrien explained Marinette's creepy behavior to Sublime (why would you do that Adrien?) her eyes were literally screaming "Adrien, blink twice if you're in danger" cause wtf was Marinette pulling!?

(S5 isn't canon, it's just a bad nightmare)

Is it just me or...cause I already ship Adrien and Sublime more than Adrienette (literally toxic). I know the ep ain't even out yet but somehow (and with the clips I've seen so far) I have the feeling he and Sublime gonna have amazing chemistry and honestly, both have similar backgrounds already (having demanding parents, no friends for long because of parents, both actually being sweethearts though) which can be built on

(Oh and I really hope she has at least a decent name cause who tf names their kid Sublime? Poor girl was raised to excell since day 1)

(NOT MTS CONTENT) Alright, as a Miraculous fan (with a particularly vested interest in Chat Noir) I’m making my thoughts on the new Chat Noir look clear.

I’m not super upset that he doesn’t have a new outfit, since, let’s be honest, Ladybug and Carapace needed it WAY more than he did.

I’m also not that concerned about his new proportions. Yeah, they’re a little funny looking, it that might just be the camera angle. Either way, he’s getting older so it makes sense that his facial structure is changing (plus I give my own CN a slightly more angular face to indicate that he’s a sweet kid, sure, but there’s a lot more to him than just “good perfect bean”.

So then, what’s got me emotionally invested enough to make a Tumblr post? (By now it’s probably pretty obvious…)

The hair.

HERE’S THE THING THOUGH- it’s not that I think the hairstyle is bad or ugly. It’s very stylish, and the smooth swishy look would be more than welcomed on a different character. But that’s the problem, this is the wild and chaotic Chat Noir, the catboy of destruction who tells terrible puns. His hair should not be that neat, and it should not be that perfect (yeah it’s a little messy, but only enough to have that “effortless, natural look” you’d see in a shampoo ad)

Maybe I’m overreacting; after all, it’s just a hairstyle, and I’m treating it like it’s the end all be all for his character in Season Six. However… it’s not just the hair. While watching Season Five, I noticed that Chat Noir doesn’t really joke around as much as he did in previous seasons (especially in the second half of S5), and isn’t really allowed to get mad or be rebellious outside of when his role as the love interest needs him to (trying to cataclysm Dark Owl because of the Married LadyNoir vision, trying to cataclysm Dark Cupid because he’s being a protective boyfriend to Marinette, telling off Nighttormentor because Gabriel forced him to go to London, sure, but the show makes it clear that the REAL problem is him trying to keep Adrien and Marinette apart). Other than that, he’s the perfect well-behaved supportive partner.

In general, it feels like Chat Noir and Adrien are becoming more similar personalities, which is good: I think a lot of us have anticipated this happening for his character arc… but the problem is, Chat Noir is becoming more like Adrien rather than Adrien becoming Chat Noir, because isn’t his arc supposed to be breaking free of the perfect controlled persona his father has forced him into, learning to express himself and become his own person? (There’s also the fact that I think he’s a little more interesting to watch as Chat Noir or the more expressive early seasons Adrien, but his development is the more important issue here.)

This kinda thing has me worried that everyone who believes that the finale was bad on purpose (the secret dystopia route) and that the writer’s genuinely do want us to believe that Gabriel’s actions have been valid and ethical (THEY ARE NOT: BRO IS A TERRORIST 💀.) Either that, or they just want us to watch the cute shipping scenes and not really care about Adrien’s character outside of that. Kinda a bleak view, I know, but that’s how things have been looking lately. (Maybe they’re making him look neater as a part of the dystopia route though? I guess we’ll see but it seems unlikely…)

(I probably should reemphasize that I’m not actually getting this “doom and gloom conspiracy board” over JUST a haircut. It’s more like I saw a bunch of other (personal) warning signs over the last two seasons, and this is just one other thing making me more worried.)

I know this isn’t my usual stuff but I felt like I needed to air my grievances (especially since while I have seen other people not like the new hair, it doesn’t seem to be for the same reasons as me, seeing as I don’t even dislike the hairstyle itself; just the fact that Chat Noir’s the one who has it). Hopefully this was at least interesting or even validating, but if not… Well, I’ll get back to my normal content after this anyway.

Kinda don't like that Ladybug and Chat Noir are proven the "best versions of themselves" when they clearly still have a lot of growth to do. Plus, Ladybug minutes later realizes SHE'S THE VILLAIN so like clearly that being "her best self" shit was literally a lie.

Thoughts on Sublimation - New Rules?

So the end of the episode shows Marinette realizing as Ladybug that SHE was the real "villain" this time and returned to the racetrack to fix things.

And somehow she... fixed Sublime's prosthetics? Even though all previous "rules" for the ladybugs were that they could only fix AKUMATIZED villain's damage (EDIT: rather, damage done DURING the akumatization, and her prosthetics were damaged BEFORE). This was always a really big point and was emphasized at various parts.

So is this just a weird plot point they decided to throw out to make things work out better, or is this a growth in Marinette's powers? Thoughts?

Thoughts on Sublimation - Lesson

I really like how, despite Sublimation being treated as like a "nice" Akumatized "villain," there is a good lesson to be learned about the way Sublime's mother acts.

When Sublime's dad gets hit by Sublimation, he says, "I know you're strong, and you don't need mine or any's help! You can do this, sweetie!" This rivals his previous encouragement of it being okay to give up and that he will always love her even if she did, but it's CLEAR that these are the words she needs and prefers, considering her attachment to her dad.

The show is displaying exactly how blind encouragement and "You're so strong!" is NOT helpful. Sublime's mother pushes her past fear, and it only causes her to have breakdowns where she has to basically fight herself and yell at her fear.

I know I said in my previous post that Sublime being so flawless almost feels like they're doing the whole disability inspiration obsession BS, but the lesson here almost completely rivals that idea. "No, just because you're disabled doesn't mean you have to be strong and overcome all your fear and struggles! You CAN give up if it's too much for you!" This absolutely applies to everyone that you do not always need to be strong, but it can be especially comforting to the disabled who often feel as though they need to be as strong as possible to be worth anything.

Thoughts on Sublimation - Sublime

Okay, first of all, girl needs a real ass name not just "Sublime" please tell me that's a nickname.

But also omg so pretty with her hair like this okay.

But real thoughts now. I don't like how Mary Sue she is. Don't get me wrong, I do really like her so far, but she's just... TOO likeable. She has no character flaws. To me, it's coming off like the writers thought "disabled" and "traumatized" counted as character flaws which is frankly insulting.

I'm hoping I'm wrong here and they're gonna reveal more about her that will add some more interest and flaws, but, seriously, her being disabled is NOT a flaw, and there's no need to make her perfect to "make up" for her disability. It gives me disability inspiration obsession vibes, which is icky. Disabled people do NOT have to "overcome" their disability and be AMAZING people just to be worth your attention.

Again, I hope I'm wrong, the show has dealt with disability better before, but I truly just hope they add some spice beyond *trauma*, which is also not a character flaw.
