The actually first piece of Murderbot fanart I ever made (over a year ago now). Drew this up immediately after finishing Network Effect fueled by queerplatonic Murderhelion feels.

So yes, this is technically ship art of a technologically advanced ship named ART and its security unit.

If something has a unit next to it, convert it to one you’re more familiar with.

The coordinates and cargo amounts are Dewey Decimal.

Those seemingly random pairs of numbers and letters are text converted to hexadecimal.

The binary means nothing.

If you don’t know what an image is, it’s probably related to quantum mechanics.

Drawings of the abstract form of the Murderbot Diaries character, ART/Perihelion. It typically looks like a black sphere with binary code on its surface, surrounded by blue rings lined with smaller black and white spheres. In the main, image ART is saying, “Do not attempt to hack my systems”.

However, its appearance changes slightly based on the situation.

In one image, ART is a black sphere, surrounded by three blue rings. Where the rings intersect is a black eye. It has four wispy blue wings and a ring of white spheres surrounding it.
This image is labeled with the text: “If it looks like this‪, RUN!‬ Or watch several weeks worth of TV with it, I guess. I mean, it’s your semi-artificial consciousness on the line.”

In another image, ART is a blue sphere with six wispy pale blue wings and a ring of dark blue circles behind its wings.
This image is labeled with the text: “Oh, so you did watch TV with it…‪Cool.”‬

‪In the image labeled “Quiet/Focused”, ART’s rings are lying flat around the main sphere with the smaller dots inside the rings.‬

‪In the image labeled “Compressed” ART is a sphere wrapped in black feathery wings. When the wings are unfurled, the sphere underneath is bright blue with binary code flowing through it.‬

‪In the image labeled “‬Number of rings varies from 1 - question mark” ART is a black sphere surrounded by four blue rings.

Some drawings of ART/Perihelion, or rather what ART looks like to other machines. ART usually takes the bottom middle form, but its appearance varies based on its mood and/or what it’s doing.

Do augmented humans see it like this too? I’m not sure yet, but right now I am leaning towards “some of them”.

Based on an ophanim (those wheel/ring angels), planetary systems, and Bohr atom models.

A four panel Murderbot Diaries fan comic.

Panel 1: A depiction of ART/Perihelion’s consciousness, represented as a floating black sphere surrounded by criss-crossing blue rings with black and white spheres lining them. Across the main sphere is binary code and ART saying “Hi SecUnit, Miss me?” as it hovers over the humanoid cyborg Murderbot (also known as SecUnit), who is laying on the ground wounded and bleeding. The background is faded binary code.

Panel 2: A close-up of Murderbot’s face, injured and with an expression of intense worry. There are a few lines of red binary code floating above its head.

Panel 3: Still a close-up of Murderbot, but its expression has shifted to one of relief and the binary code is now green.

Panel 4: Murderbot’s expression has shifted to anger as it shouts “Fuck you ART!” ART replies, “Well fuck you too.” The binary code is now gray.

Fun fact, when one of my friends got to the part of Network Effect where it’s revealed that ART died(?), I played along that it was dead for good and then immediately after started drawing this for when she got to the part where ART came back.

Nother fun fact, ART is based partly on an ophanium, those angels that are just wheels/rings with eyes.
