guys what the freak is the timeline now
hello, dave filoni. it looks like youāve been ignoring the canon thrawn trilogies in order to change thrawnās character into something more similar to the heir to empire trilogy that is no longer canon. iām sure this makes thrawn fans so happy. letās play a game: you have six books in front of youā¦the thrawn trilogy and thrawn ascendency trilogy. you have one hour to read these and come up with an actual understanding of thrawnās complex motivations and personality or you will be thrown into a sarlacc pit.
Yeah, I just can't get invested in Morgan Elsbeth as a character. She comes off as a generic Star Wars OC, a character that only exists so Filoni can brag about how many characters he's introduced into the universe during his tenure.
Spoilers for "The Path of Anger" below
So, to start off with the obvious, Dave Filoni has never read a single Cannon Thrawn novel. The timeline of events in this episode made no sense for the timeline of the novels. Thrawn was an admiral, yet he was already accompanied by Rukh and Pallean, whom he wouldn't even MEET until he reached grand admiral status. At this point in the Cannon novels, he would have been accompanied by Eli Vanto, not Pallean. In fact, he wouldn't even meet Pallean until the events of Treason. The choice by Folini to overhaul this story erases the conical nature of the "Cannon" Thrawn novels.
Before I get into my real point on the problem with how Filoni writes, I'll give my review of the episode as a whole. It was fine, not much to write home about. The animation was beautiful as to be expected, and very expressive. The writing was... just ok. The empire was depicted as cartoonishly evil, though it is a cartoon so, maybe that's justified. For a short that was supposed to teach us more about Morgan and her motivations, I feel like we didn't learn much about her that we didn't already know? She's good with ship design, she wants revenge and power, etc. Nothing new. Personally, I found the pacing of the episode to be quite boring, it was very slow despite the short runtime. Overall, I don't know if I would recommend it, though I thought the episodes following Barris were quite enjoyable.
Now for the real problem I have with these episodes: Filoni's insistence on his own version of cannon at the cost of others' work. I don't deny Filoni is a good writer and director, Rebels is one of my favorite shows of all time! But he's been on this power trip after being essentially being handed the reigns to Star Wars. There was a period where Star Wars was a collaborative effort between a ton of creatives working on something they loved, the second golden age, that made it into a beloved franchise for a new generation. But now it's just Filoni, and he decides what part of other creative works he'll pick and choose to tell his own story. I feel so bad for Zhan. He created this beloved character, and wrote AMAZING NOVELS, only to have his incredibly complex character be forced into a 2d stereotype. Filoni needs to do better because if he keeps going down the path of writing he has been Star Wars is going to be a shell of its former glory.
No, he can't read š
Actually has Dave filoni ever read a single canon Zahn novel ever
Has anyone checked on Zhan? Because if someone stole my character and ignored their lore?? Dude, it would be on sight.

Luminara Unduli fighting with the Martez sisters
I wasn't a big fan of the Martez sisters, but for some time I imagined a scene where they meet Luminara for the last time as she asks for their forgiveness for not saving their parents & help them fight against the empire.
In their last battle, Luminara wielding both her lightsaber & Bariss Offee's lightsaber, is trying to create a distraction for the stormtroopers to let the sisters escape & complete their mission. After that she is arrested & captured by the inquisitors. Then we know what happened to her...
Who knows, I don't think Barriss will serve the empire for a long time. After I saw the trailer I thought that the jedi the 4th sister fought was Luminara and probably she will be the one who will help Barriss to escape from Vader's wrath but this will come with a heavy price.
WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS ON THEM BRINGING BARRISS BACK AS AN INQUISITOR???
OKAY FIRST OF ALL I NEVER THOUGHT ID SEE THE DAY WHERE I GET TO SEE BARRISS RETURN IN YASSIFIED NEW ANIMATION SO FOR THAT IM SO PUMPED AND SO HAPPY TO THE POINT THAT I AM SHAKING AND I REALLY WISH I WASNT WORKING SO THAT I CAN SPAZZ OUT. SO I AM SOOOOOO GRATEFUL MY GIRL IS COMING BACK š
With that being said, I am skeptical about her being an Inquisitor. Feloni has stated in the past that Barriss wouldnāt be one if she were to come back and from her facial expressions and actions in the trailer, she seems more reluctant and skeptical than anything else. Me personally I always thought she was better than becoming an Inquisitor as I never believe she truly fell to the Dark Side and Iām sure sheās smart enough to put the two and two together about Vader and I donāt think Vader would be pleased to see her againā¦so I do believe her true loyalties and feelings donāt align with the Empire. I feel like she may escape and maybe reunite with her Master again, etc. Again we shall seeā¦.
So in short Iām beyond estatic Barriss is back but Iām not very sure about her being/committing to the Inquisitorius. I personally hope that she doesnāt commit and breaks out and does her own thing.
A happy jedi family.
Guys, I just finished tales of the empire and I have words
(Warning spoilers)
1. WE GOT PELLAEON, THAT SLIMY OLD MAN, INSTEAD OF ELI VANTO!!! YOUāRE SHITTING ME!!!!
Ok seriously guys like no offense to Pellaeon fans but like come on I wanted Eli. Where is space cowboy? Where is my beloved aid?
2. Adding on that, Thrawn in clone wars animation was amazing and very fun (they did add in those little things above his eyes after all) I was very happy to see my silly little blue man.
3. Barriss is now my queen?
I guess Iām now devoting my life and soul her. Like they did not have to go that hard with the animation but they did and Iām so glad (sheās so pretty!)
4. Barriss got back in contact with Ahsoka!!!!!!!!!! Iām so happy about it!!! She met her old friend again and maybe they did little Jedi things or missions together, also I really want to know how their reunion went (also I kinda ship barrissoka so Iām living life right now)
That concludes my initial thoughts on the matter, though there will probably be more later, enjoy ;)
Also may the fourth be with you!!!!!
Tales of the empire comes out in four days. If we donāt get even a glimpse of Eli Iām going to go insane and chew off my own fingers. Seeing him in clone wars animation (or just a show in general) is no longer a want, itās a need.
Made an awfully Photoshoped poster for an unofficial Tales of the Empire based puzzlevision thing.
Morgana is a poor, unhappy child who couldn't escape the nightmares of the past.
In retaliation for her suffering and her burned people, she burns everything that is meaningful to the people just as Grievous burned down her family and home
I felt sorry for her while watching because she couldn't forgive and lived with nothing but lust for revenge and anger until her death.
I would like to thank this character for the critical contribution she made to the Barrissoka fandom: sucking so much she fast-tracked Barrissā redemption arc
