I don’t read self-insert fanfiction a lot, but i still do it occasionally, and something that i’ve noticed is that a lot of the Haikyuu si fanfics where the si character is female, they’ll pretend to be male to enter a specific team, which never made much sense.

Usually if there is male’s team for a sport there’ll be female team as well. We once met a character, early in, who happens to be in Daichi’s class and is also part of the girl’s volleyball team. If you really want your character to partake in the volleyball life-style, make them part of the girl’s team. Just because they don’t show up doesn’t mean that they don’t exist. Hell, since they don’t show up you can take as much free liberty as you want. Create the team, their dynamics, you can even go the AFTG route and make them mafia-kids-run aways. No one is stopping you.

Here’s some other ways to make them close now that they’re not in the same team or if you don’t want to write your character to be athletic:

•Team manager (like 90% of the girls in the show)

•Classmates

•Childhood friends

•Live near each other

•Family member of a specific character that visits that character a lot in practice, making them close with the rest of the team

•Teacher at the school (in case you wanna ship them with an older character, I don’t condone pedo behavior)

•If char. has an after school job, the team could visit it a lot

•Tutor/getting tutored

Stop making your female characters hide the fact that they have tits so that they can screw your favorite character, realistically that wouldn’t fly.

You know how kids we're easily able to make friends. And you know make long-lasting friendships or whatever...

How the fuck do you do it as an adult? Seriously, it's so hard. How do you do it without looking like some weirdo??? How do you walk up to somebody talk to them, then ask to be their friend? How do you do it and why is it so fucking hard as an adult?
