So! My save file got corrupted! I am so... so happy can't you tell? Anyways, this means I have to start over... I got up to 1317, so for the sake of my own sanity, we are starting at 1318, right after the great famine. So, let's meet the new "cast"
I gave them the biggest lot in chestnut ridge and brother... it took too long to build everything, i don't even know if it was worth it or now gah. (i didn't take pics of the actual house cause... it's meant to look like shit. and we don't need to see that)
So, yeah! That's the beautiful lot. that took way too long. Anyways! Story wise! Minna is already pregnant! (for my own sanity, shut uppp)
Honestly, they've just been doing a lot of hard labour. Nothing too fancy, and I've named their animals after Greek Gods which is always fun! (was totally listening to Epic while building and it kept me somewhat sane)
family portrait~ fun fact, I forgot to put down a chair and then got lazy and didn't put one, so Rolf is in fact doing a wall sit in the air, rip his thighs.

We hit the Great Famine! Content Warnings ensue.
'The Great Famine of 1315–1317 was the first of a series of large-scale crises that struck Europe early in the 14th century. Most of Europe was affected. Crop failures were not the only problem; cattle disease caused sheep and cattle numbers to fall as much as 80%. The period was marked by extreme levels of crime, disease, mass death, and even cannibalism and infanticide. Historians debate the toll, but it is estimated that 10–25% of the population of many cities and towns died.'
The Frost family had to say goodbye to their stock when they couldn't keep up with managing even enough food for themselves. It was hard to let go such a well working food source of eggs, but they wouldn't have gotten anything out of the chickens (or their cow) if they had kept them and let them starve.
The garden lost all of the plants, no longer bearing any harvest that Ruben had to dig them all up from the ground. Food helpings are being cut in half and the kids are becoming short tempered as a result. Lowri in particular has been extremely vocal about her distaste towards pretty much everything at any point that she can. (she got the loud child phase lol)
Philip has been getting sick way too easy ever since but is still doing his best to keep the younger ones entertained and shift their minds away from being hungry. Ben, on the other hand, has been angry and quiet, Ulla has been pushing her worries about him for a while. Ruben says that he just needs some time to himself.
If anything, Ruben has been taking this as a chance to work on new seed bags to lure animals during his hunts. They've become scarcer to find on his runs, but that hasn't let him down just yet. Ulla has been subject to his ramblings on the different pairings of seeds and scents would better attract an animal towards his trap that she has begun to follow him around during the day so she can sleep at night.
Babies Philip and Izabella were born early into the year, completely healthy! Luckily, there were no complications for either the babies or Lilith.
Both Lilith and Ruben are ecstatic to welcome they're children but find it almost bittersweet with how fast they are growing up. The twins quickly grown accustomed to the chickens, even mimicking them when they would crow or cluck, to which would always confuse the chickens and usually scare them off...
It wasn't too long after, maybe a third into the year, when Lilith found out she was pregnant again. Although ready to welcome the new child with open arms just as she did with the twins, she almost feels conflicted about moving a tad too fast. Money was short, and their house was small.
And,,, Ruben had made an almost fatal mistake when trying to repair the fridge. His candle he was using for light ended up getting bumped too close to the wood and caught the whole thing on fire. Luckily, Ruben was able to put it out fairly quickly, though Lilith is still worried about another fire breaking out, moving every candle at least two feet away from the walls.
Although Lilith was none the wiser, (like many other villagers in town,) she met the infamous witch who lives down the street. She had whispered nonsense and somehow repaired the fridge almost instantly right in front of Lilith's eyes. Maybe she was just tired from all the farm work, the twins, and working through another pregnancy, so Lilith simply brushes it off. (as you can tell, i had too much fun giving the townies intense lore. TW: implied death (like the priest having three daughters before having a son, which he was then relieved only to find his son is fatally sick with only so many years to live.))

Starter Heir's Wife:
To start off,,, Ruben and Lilith settled into a farm together shortly after marrying. With the little money from Lilith's father, they were able to buy a cow and two chickens. Their farm (gardening patch) is by no means fully used, but they have a few crops growing already.
(pretending the pregnancy test is grain seeds...)(I ALSO FORGOT TO TAKE OFF HER NAIL POLISH FOR A HOT MINUTE IM SORRYYYY) Within a couple months of living on the farm, Lilith was overjoyed (even though she looks in tears in the photo- I swear she was happy) to find out that she was pregnant!
The move was surprisingly a lot easier than Lilith was fearing it to be (she had a really close relationship with her father, and he ended up passing a month after she moved away-) and she found to enjoy the farm life with Ruben fairly quickly. (Given she grew up a baker's daughter, though they were by no means wealthy.)
Oh. And Vlad decided to show up and feast on Ruben... Erm. It was not planned. (I swear, I tried stopping it T-T he would not leave) So he might be a tad... under the weather? (I have a mod that makes being bitten have a chance of being turned... I don't know what to do if he does turn... sigh.)
It took literally almost until the last three months for Lilith and Ruben to be able to make anything other than gruel... Lilith was pretty proud of herself (and relieved to eat something other than gruel) when they finally had the ingredients to make porridge. Of course,,, not a first choice either,,, but it was better than gruel!
