“Thank You! I Must Go Now, It’s Been Great…”

“Thank you! I must go now, it’s been great…”

Parasite trailed off for a moment. Part of them really was starting to considering this person as a potential host.

Maybe, just maybe…

Would they be a good host? Could they be a good host? What if it was perfect symbiosis? Just the thought of it immediately filled Parasite with hope and desperation, and they took a couple of quick steps towards Gwen. No, no, too dangerous a target… can’t get sidetracked, can’t fight her… She’s been oblivious enough though, maybe a surprise attack- no. They had promised to themselves not to attack anybody high scale, not to bond to any Spider-Creatures again.

Not again. Not after last time.

However, their hand that was partially reached out to Gwen, their still tilted head, the occasional twitches, and from how long they had been standing there in silence, mentally debating with themselves, it was starting to get more awkward the longer they stood there, staring at them with a half desperate, half hesitant look in their eyes as they stared at Gwen.

Leave you’re going to get found out and you’re going to get your ass kicked again find an easier target idiot

“Hey, you! Spider…”

Parasite Alice paused, trying to regain control of their host’s body again why did they keep on fighting Parasites control why did they pick a host that was so difficult we need a new host soon FIND ONE

“What do you… What’s your opinion on symbiotes? What do you know about them?”

Parasite-Alice leaned up against a fire escape, her expression blank and emotionless.

Gwen froze and pulled her mask back down, spinning on her toes to face the newcomer. She hadn't even realized someone was there. She had to get a grip.

She tried not to seem too out of breath or panicky, but they'd likely be well aware if they'd been there for any time at all. They hadn't mentioned it yet, however.

It took a moment to process their question. She had to get a grip first. There wasn't a clear threat.

"...In theory? They're very interesting," That was flat. Not enough. This was a biology question, she liked biology. "I mean, I don't know a lot. But parasites are always interesting to learn about." She didn't know why this was one of the topics she always hedged on. Realistically, she knew her feelings. But this was one of the things where she had to test the dirt, to find her footing, before she could state her opinion. Especially because she still didn't know this person.

"I don't have anything against them. Certainly not the hosts, they are actively hurt in the exchange," She wrung her hands together. Paused. "I think my interest lands in what is best for the host and what they prefer." That shouldn't have been too far. No matter the harm inflicted on others, the host was a person in the exchange. And yet she found her grimacing as if she'd stated the most controversial opinion in the world. It was stupid.

"Uh, may I ask who you are? And what your opinion is?"

“I mostly just have to grab on and attach myself.”

They sunk into his shoulders a bit, disappearing below their skin. “You know, for something so barely noticeable to the conscious mind, you’d be surprised by how badly people’s bodies react to bonding after it’s already been completed.”

*Wheelie skips over to the spot that Parasite said and he looks around.*

Heyyyy, I’m here!

*He’s wearing a bright pink unicorn hoodie and pink cargo pants so he shouldn’t be too hard to spot.*

Parasite drops from the tree, letting go of the ant they had temporarily grabbed onto.

“Hey! Over here!”

The small alien moved closer, looking up at them.

Parasite winces a bit, their smile turning a bit sad for a second.

“…I did. Not anymore though, now I just hop from person to person. I’ll find one soon, though, I’m sure.”

Their voice sounded more like they were still trying to convince themselves of that, like they weren’t completely sure.

A small blob, the size of a subway rat approaches. It is grey, with a full spectrum of colors dancing over it.

“Hello. We I have not met another of my kind before. I am VICE.”

— @bluejayandvice

“Salutations, little one!”

Parasite crouched down to Vice, their eyes wide as they examined the symbiote

“Vice, you say? I’m Parasite. It’s a pleasure meeting another!”

Parasite smiled genuinely for the first time, edging a bit out of the shadows a bit.

“Good! I found another-” Parasite cut themselves off before they could say ‘host’. That would bring up too many questions they couldn’t answer. “-Friend!”

“What about you? How have you been doing?” By this point a couple more steps and they would be out of the shadows, their spiked tail poking out of the shadowy corner they stood in.

Gwen didn't go to Hudson Yard often. That would be obsessive. She didn't even expect to find Alice there.

But she would be lying if she claimed she didn't spend more time at the park than she used to. It was a good place to rest and sometimes patrol got stressful, so she'd take a few minutes and stop by.

Yeah, part of it was that it reminded her of Alice and she was able to feel a little less odd for a few minutes, but she wasn't trying to find them. That would be invasive. Gwen was getting better at recognizing that.

She sighed as she pulled at the grass, letting her mind wander. She tried to stay alert, she really did, but it felt like such a chore when there was simply her, grass, and air. So she let it go for a bit.

The wind blew at her side, not too strong, but it still made her shiver.

She heard footsteps as people wandered by. Not many, but some. Few stopped, which made sense. It was late and Gwen stayed hidden from the walkway between a tree and some bushes.

[Continue however you wish, sorry it took this long]

@spiritarachnid

Parasite had been lurking around Hudson Yard too, though they hadn’t been doing so as much.

Parasite had been in partial symbiote form. They had started to get more and more confident each day with it, especially after realizing that this was New York, where most people were used to aliens and mutants.

That didn’t change the fact that people still hid away, or grimaced, or moved away, or started to reach for concealed guns whenever they saw them, which was why they had been lurking a bit in the more shadowy parts of Hudson park when they had seen Gwen again.

Parasite almost did a double take, seeing the first person that had treated them normally and given them a chance. They had almost charged forwards before remembering that they didn’t have Alice as a host anymore, and seeing a symbiote host charging at them probably would be quite the alarming sight. Instead, they stood there for a moment, just staring, trying to contemplate what the next best move would be. They were really starting to regret not telling Gwen before they had parted they were a symbiote.
