When I adopted Athena last month, we knew she had leg deformities but didn't realize the full extent of her disability until we were able to see an orthopedic surgeon. She has bilateral carpal flexor contractures, a condition so rare the specialist had never seen a cat with it and his colleague had only seen one case. They recommended splinting her legs until she's grown more and then they want to do total wrist fusion of both front legs (two surgeries that total to $11,000). I was already shocked by the estimate and then was told that doesn't include the thousands of dollars of xrays and physical therapy she will need before and after the surgery. I'm a bit overwhelmed by all of this and just want to help this little kitten. She is just the sweetest and all she wants is to play and snuggle. I hate knowing she's in pain from the pressure sores caused by her condition and want to get her the best treatment possible. Hey everyone. I wanted to talk about why I haven't been posting. Besides being busy with my own life, I had to take a break from social media for the most part because hearing about the genocide on Palestine was getting to me. I was following what was happening very closely for a while, but then it got to be too much to handle. I understand that if just hearing about it hurts this much, the pain of the Palestinians is beyond my imagination. I'm saying this now because I don't want to be on this platform without making my stance clear: I am pro-Palestine, and anti-genocide. Israel is not a safe haven for Jewish people like they claim to be, they are killing people of any religious/spiritual beliefs, including (but not limited to) Judaism. It is not a war as it is one-sided; this is genocide, and there is no excuse for it.
I don't tend to post anything serious on here as this is mostly a meme blog, but this is too much for me to ignore. If you look to my most recent post, you can see that it went up in early October, just before the attacks. I felt it would be wrong of me to post anything if I didn't say what is nessasary. So now that I can handle it, here is that. I can't promise any other posts on here in the future, but if I do choose to do so, I have stated my beliefs and you know who you're following.
Thank you to anyone who reads this. It was difficult to get out, but I feel that is needed.

hey y'all, I'm sorry it took me so long, but I just edited this post from last year. the reason is because part of it was a meme about "gay wrath month", and I've since learned that sometimes people use that term to silence people about disabled pride month. I wasn't aware of that when I posted the original, but I don't want to leave it up and contribute to further hurting and alienating disabled people. I did point out at first that it was disabled pride month, and said July could be both, but I don't want to be involved in this anymore, so I removed that part. if you want to reblog the remaining post, please use the edited version here, with or without the explanation. if you have already reblogged the original, the edits will not change the reblogs, so I would appreciate if y'all could delete that.
