Happy birthday to me I guess, this year I’m yet again asking for the destruction of Autism Speaks, may god strike them down where they stand.

Overload...

One of the best things about college to me is just showing up early to get a good seat away from people and pick where I sit. I love being able to sit away from the flickering bright white lights that loom over the students, yet being able to sit away from windows and distractions that might interfere with my studies. With all these great things soon comes misery though...the seat I pick always ends up having someone trying to sit near me so I have to set my backpack on the chair next to me and sit in the corner if possible. I fear people might think I'm rude, but the noises of others clicking away on computers, talking to their neighbors, smells, and any small noises or motions they make just tend to bother my sensory issues. I have severe sensory issues due to my autism and sensory processing disorder so I go into a meltdown almost every time I show up to class. I love school and learning as it's my special interest and always has been. The ability for me to expand my knowledge in any way possible makes me happy and want to flap my hands around. I just wish people were more considerate and I didn't have to wear headphones just to exist in normal environments. School is great, yet extremely hard and I always miss classes sometimes. I tried online school, but it's hard for me to focus and stay attentive in class. I'd rather sleep through it instead which is a huge issue. I don't know, I just feel as if I need to let out some of my issues and get them off my chest in order to sit through this next class. Sorry if I come off as rude, I don't mean to. I just am struggling so much lately to just exist. I want to curl up in a ball and hide away from society until people acknowledge that those with disabilities can and will be in professional settings too so we need to make things to accommodate them.

Autism Speaks moms' in nutshell

I never thought I’d be typing this sentence but this is the first CEC YT video I put a dislike on.

No offense to the little boy in the video (obviously) but I absolutely hate that CEC supports Autism Speaks. I know they always have but still as an autistic CEC fan it disgusts me.

Plus (this is a little off topic but) I headcanon Chuck E. to be on the same part of the spectrum as me. I’m on the lower side of the spectrum. Since Autism Speaks tries to treat autism as a disease and make people fear autistic people like me… Does that mean CEC Entertainment is afraid of their own mascot?!? /j

Seriously though. Fuck Autism Speaks. I hope CEC stops supporting them one of these days. Though I fucking doubt it.

This is about a neurotypical phenomenon called inspiration porn (no, it's not actual porn). Inspiration porn is when neurotypical people romanticize disabled people in a piece of media. I have seen this in the movie The Unbreakable Boy (watch I'm Autistic, Now What's video on that movie on YouTube). They basically treat being autistic as this miracle and a blessing. From my experience as an undiagnosed autistic person, autism sucks to have for me. Inspiration porn isn't just targeted at autistic people though. It's targeted at people with all kinds of disabilities, physical and mental (for example, those people that romanticize BPD, depression, etc). About The Unbreakable Boy, they make it seem like having autism equals enjoying life 24/7 and all that jazz. The actual person that this movie/memoir is based on was at the premier. He was constantly cut off while he was speaking and wasn't physically handed the microphone (they just held it out for him to speak into, and maybe he didn't want to hold the microphone and that's perfectly fine). He even said his life was almost nothing like the movie/memoir. The actor that played him doesn't even get enough screentime and this movie isn't even about him. Both the movie and the memoir are about his dad. If you want to learn more about The Unbreakable Boy and why it's problematic, please watch I'm Autistic, Now What's video on it. They explain it really well.

And since this is an awareness post, let's talk about the countries and groups of people that are experiencing genocide and ethnic cleansing (trigger warning)

PALESTINE 🍉: Palestine is the #1 country in the world with the most child amputees. Israel is getting even more savage on Ramadan.

SUDAN 🇸🇩: Women and children in Sudan are getting brutally raped every single day by the RSF. Women are too frightened to go outside because of that.

DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF THE CONGO 🇨🇩: Literal babies in The Congo are mining coltan, a material used in most technology. Babies in The Congo are also being sold in bags.

UKRAINE 🇺🇦: The US cut off humanitarian aid for Ukraine because of Tronald Dump. They are still being bombed by Russia.

LEBANON, SYRIA, AND YEMEN 🇱🇧🇸🇾🇾🇪: Israel is also bombing these countries.

AFGHANISTAN 🇦🇫: Girls' education in Afghanistan is ended when they're 11. Women can't even be seen in windows because of the Taliban.

UYGHUR MUSLIMS 🫐: The Uyghur Muslims in China are being detained in concentration camps. Their culture is slowly being erased by China.

IRAN 🇮🇷: The Iranian government reduced the age of consent from 16 to 9.

DEPORTATION OF IMMIGRANTS IN THE US 🇺🇸: Tronald Dump is even deporting legal immigrants to "help clean up America". They are also building concentration camps for those immigrants.

ngl I thought the puzzle piece as an autistic symbol meant like. I am a vital puzzle piece to your society. humans would never have invented half the things they did without us. you're telling me it means I'm missing something?? buddy. listen. listen to me reeeeaal closely. no human has all the pieces to humanity. no one. no one has all the features enables no one has all the strengths weaknesses or quirks. no one has a whole puzzle. we make the freaking complete picture together. that's the freaking point.
