What’s one (or more) headcanon about the Marauders era character that you just don’t like?

“Good morning, Peter. How’s your morning going?” asked a gray-haired lady as she walked through the door of the coffee shop.

“Oh, good morning, Mrs. Hudson! You know how Mondays are here. But how about you? How’s your husband?” replied the brown-haired boy as he prepared a coffee with enviable ease. Practically everyone in the neighborhood knew how clumsy Peter Sykes could be, but they also knew that, when it came to his coffee shop, his usual clumsiness was completely left behind.

“Oh, you know how Henry is. He keeps refusing to use a cane. The other day, he nearly fell down the stairs because of his limp. I swear to God, Peter, I don’t know what I’m going to do with that man,” Mrs. Hudson complained as she sat in one of the chairs by the café counter. “But tell me about you, dear. How are you and little Harry doing?”

It had been five years since Peter arrived in this small neighborhood in Glasgow with his nephew Harry in tow. The move had been unexpected, but the young man, barely 21 at the time, adapted quickly. The change had been drastic for both of them, but over time, they had earned the affection of the neighbors.

“Well… I think we’re going through a bit of a phase,” Peter said, rubbing his eyes as a trace of exhaustion appeared on his face.

Mrs. Hudson felt a pang of sympathy for the young man. Peter looked so young and seemed to have gone through so much. He was only 24 and was already practically a single father while running his own business.

“Is that so?” Mrs. Hudson asked curiously.

“Do you remember that hedgehog plush Daisy gave him?”

“The one that sings that funny song when you pull the string?”

“That’s the one. Harry keeps pulling the string and laughing every single time as if it were the first time… but I think I’m going to lose my mind if I hear it one more time.”

“Don’t be silly, dear. Kids always have a toy or a song they cling to. It’s normal.”

“I’m not saying it isn’t normal, Mrs. Hudson. I’m just saying I’m sick of that song.”

“I’m sure Harry will move on from that song sooner than you think, dear,” she said with a compassionate smile.

“He will if that toy miraculously stops working…” Peter sighed and then gave a crooked smile. “Although I can’t blame him. The song used to make me laugh at first, too.”

I can't get this idea of the Marauders x Spider-Man out of my head, so I started writing a bit about the background of each of the Marauders in this AU.

So in this AU, Hogwarts is like Brooklyn Visions Academy, the only difference being that it's located in London and the students are still divided into houses, but it's more like which dormitory sector you belong to and, ultimately, they're not taken as seriously as in canon.

Peter: He's an only child, his father is a paramedic and his mother is a nurse. Due to his parents' shifts, he's somewhat used to taking care of himself. He attends Hogwarts on a scholarship, although he always struggles to maintain good grades and not lose the scholarship. He suffers quite a bit when it comes to balancing his grades and his life as Spider-Man. He's quite close to his parents and his father's death really affected him a lot. After this, he became quite close to Professor Sprout and Professor Flitwick, often turning to them for advice. He's a bit afraid of Professor McGonagall.

James: Like Peter, he's an only child and his parents are quite old. Because of that, he's quite spoiled, but he adores his parents, and woe to the person who insults either of them because James Potter isn't afraid to hit someone. He's the captain of the Hogwarts hockey team. His family is extremely wealthy, so he's always attended private schools and has no problem spending money on gifts for his friends. He's Professor McGonagall's favorite, as he's the best student in his class and has ensured that Hogwarts hasn't lost a match in the last two years.

Remus: Like the other two, he's an only child. I didn't want to completely ignore Remus's lycanthropy, so I decided to make him a mutant. He can control the transformation, but it's quite difficult for him to do so during full moon nights, so he simply opts to spend them as a wolf. He still has scars, but they're from when he was attacked by Fenrir Greyback (who is also a mutant in this AU). Remus managed to defend himself, and that's when he discovered he was a mutant. Lyall Lupin has made a great effort to change his beliefs about mutants since discovering his son was one. Now he and Remus are quite close. Likewise, Remus couldn't ask for a better mother than Hope Lupin. Like Peter, he has a scholarship, and thanks to it, his family can afford to send him to a school like Hogwarts, as Lyall Lupin is a police officer and Hope Lupin works in a bookstore, so they don't have money to spare like James and Sirius.

Sirius: He's a special case. Like in canon, he didn't have a good relationship with his family. For that reason, he likes attending Hogwarts because it allows him to be away from his family for much of the year. Initially, when he and Regulus started attending Hogwarts, they were quite close, but they started to drift apart over the years. Finally, when he turned 15 (about 6 months after Peter became Spider-Man), he ran away from home and lived with the Potters for a while until his uncle Alphard Black managed to become his legal guardian. Sirius goes to therapy once a week, but he's managing quite well. Alphard is also trying to get custody of Regulus, but it's not easy, as the Black family is quite wealthy and probably has the best lawyers in England.

I've been browsing AO3 for hours and stumbled upon a few AUs where a character becomes Spider-Man. I quite enjoy these types of AUs because of the endless story possibilities, considering Spider-Man has a vast array of villains. The best ones I found were where Remus and James were Spider-Man. But I'm here to pitch an even stranger idea: what if Peter Pettigrew were Spider-Man? I mean, the guy is a coward, and I think that would make for a great story opportunity – someone as cowardly as Peter becoming Spider-Man, someone who clearly lacks a moral compass at first. And here's where I think Peter would urgently need the death of someone as significant to him as Uncle Ben was to Peter Parker. It couldn't be any of the Marauders because Peter holds them in a strange kind of pedestal, so the death of any of them might scare him more than give him the push he needs to do good.

So, hypothetically, a character not mentioned in canon could be used: Peter Pettigrew's father. Now, listen, Peter definitely wouldn't use his powers for good at first. I'd bet Peter would use them to steal some small things from stores – these kinds of things would give him some self-confidence, which we know Peter definitely lacked. So Peter's father discovers this, and he and Peter argue. Peter runs away from home, and his father goes after him (similar to what happens in Andrew Garfield's movie). Peter's father encounters the thief Peter just let go and is shot dead. Peter wants revenge because now he has these powers, and that's what he always wanted – now he's more powerful than anyone, and he wants to find the man who took his father from him.

I think his origin as Spider-Man would definitely be much more violent since it would be for entirely selfish reasons, but I also like to think that with the help of the Marauders, they could help him take a better path, especially James. I think he could definitely have a great influence on Peter's morality.

I also like to think that Peter would still be the same shy and kind boy but definitely much less willing to take any kind of mockery, especially after what happened to his father. As Spider-Man, he would be much more himself, as if wearing the mask eliminates that little fear of what others might say.

Lastly, I don't think Peter would be smart enough to create web shooters, so I actually think if I ever write this, I'd give him natural webs like Tobey McGuire's Spider-Man.

The opinions don't matter to me, but please, if you're going to spread hate about Peter Pettigrew, just don't comment. This is an AU, so we're completely taking into account the canonical personality of the character.

Too much inspiration/ideas to write, not enough time to write anything

regulus cannot stand how much spice james' cooking has, but over time, he begins to love it (not that he tells james that though)

regulus introduces james to crossiants, and james can't pronounce it to save himself. it drives reg crazy.

james has banned reg from the kitchen. reg is a shit cook and james has found himself burning the food too often when he just stares at his boyfriend munching on a cookie or two.

regulus can't cook to save his life

he loves doing the dishes though

and since james hates doing the dishes or cleaning up after he cooks, that part is left to regulus

james cleans the dining table though

regulus bakes cakes often. do they come out well? 80% of the time, yes. but james eats it whether it is too sweet, too chocolatey or too burnt.

james loves gardening but cannot grow flowers.

regulus does that while james tends to the gardens.

regulus is the biggest advocate of organic food

james loves the taste of the roadside pani puri wala, which reg chastises him for because 'no, james, it might not be clean'

which was what started james' idea to run a chaat shop.

regulus has to stop james from adding too many ingredients when he makes french food, because 'no, james, you cannot andaza this shit out. there is a recipe for a fucking reason'

james' favourite french food is bouillabaisse

regulus loves paneer butter masala

or anything paneer, really

whenever regulus bakes a cake and frosts it, more frosting ends up on james' face than on the cake.

james has thrown a spatula at regulus too many times to count.

and while reg pretends like he hates that, he loves the way james' lips settle into a line the second before he throws the spatula.

but they love food

and each other

and nothing can ever stop them from finding themselves in a tangled mess after lunch, regulus' fingers slowly tracing the stubble along james' jaw and james muttering 'i love you, meri jaan' while peppering kisses all over reg's face and body

casanova of gryffindor : remus lupin

peter “betraying” the marauders by transferring to another team for money which is the rival club of james and sirius’

also an allegory abt the slytherin-gryffundor rubalry and the real madrid-barcelona one where the death eaters are the names of the slytherin’s team (real madrid players) and only players whose family have pkayed for them can join (fitting the whole pureblood status)

sirius being scouted from an early age by slytherin but choosing gryffindor (barcelona) to pave a different path and at the academy (la masia) he meets james and they become a deadly duo

sirius always assists jame’s goals they celebrate together jump into each other’s arms

regulus playing for slytherin (rma) and having to face his brother in every el clasico

them choosing to represent france internationally and sirius playing against james (england) in euros and world cups

lily’s backstory of being “different” from her family is that she want to play football put they tell her it’s a men’s only sport and maybe petunia wanted to be a footballer too but never had the potential and feels jealous (like she did in cannon cause she wasn’t a witch)

pandora being the social media manager and making promos and fun competitive videos for the club’s insta and youtube

her making james and lily pair up after popular demand and the whole comment section saying they should get together

them dating for pr reasons and james already having feelings

lily being the captain🫡🫡

marlene being a BRUTAL defender (kate mccabe style)

dorcas being a sports reporter always taking interviews by the side if the pitch, getting flustered while commentating when marlene has the ball, her and marlene having a whole conversation when dorcas asks a question at a press conference

there are so many possibilities for this au, angst about them transferring to a diff club in a country far away, sirius’s trauma being the pressure from his family as they are world renowned players with many ballon d’ors.
